The plights of the traditional unorganised and informal co-living sector are plenty Mark Twain once famously said: “Buy land, they’re not making it anymore.” Real estate is one of our most scarce resources. As per IBEF’s Real Estate Report (November 2020), the real estate sector in India is expected to reach US $ 1 trillion by 2030. By 2025, it will contribute 13 percent to the country’s GDP. The residential segment contributes nearly 80 percent of the real estate sector and the demand concentrated in metro cities constantly outmatches supply since India’s urban housing pyramid is a skewed one with the largest proportion of the population being under-served due to issues of affordability. The metro cities in India have witnessed rapid growth in-migration, which has put considerable pressure on the existing rental housing set-up which itself was not historically designed in order to cater to the demand. With more millennials entering the workforce and contributing towards a … [Read more...] about Future of co-living in India after COVID-19: 3 crucial factors

Web3 gaming could provide better monetisation opportunities, say top Indian gaming founders
(Image Source: Shutterstock) Web3 gaming could provide potentially better monetisation opportunities for game developers in India, the country's top gaming founders said in a panel discussion on May 5. Web3 is dubbed to be the next iteration of the Internet, which will be decentralised and run on blockchain. "Monetisation on games has been a challenge in the India market, even in a freemium model, except for a few top grossing games. The in-app purchase (IAP) conversions has been low and eCPMs (effective cost per thousand impressions) have been fairly low. I think web3 is providing a completely different set of monetization opportunities with potentially higher ARPU (average revenue per user)" said Nazara Technologies founder Nitish Mittersain in the panel discussion held at IGDC Blockchain Gaming Summit in Bengaluru. Apart from Mittersain, the panel consisted of Mobile Premier League co-founder Sai Srinivas and JetSynthesys founder Rajan Navani. “I wrote the book for my grandmother and Shah Rukh Khan as my target readers”: World Bank economist Shrayana Bhattacharya
Actor Shah Rukh Khan (SRK). Initially, talking about movies served as an ice-breaker. Then, Bhattacharya found that talking about SRK's songs and films with his fans also "allowed us to delve into the trickier terrain of discussing men, money and misogyny". World Bank economist Shrayana Bhattacharya met Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan at his home in Mumbai on April 24, 2022. Her book Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh: India’s Lonely Young Women and the Search for Intimacy and Independence (HarperCollins, 2021) had released late last year, and she had wanted to place a copy in Shah Rukh's personal library.
