Proppant Movement In Frac Casing Has Been Nailed Down, But How Important Is It Really For Shale Wells?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Proppant consists of sand-sized particles injected with frac fluid during a fracking operation. In shale oil and gas wells, the frac fluid is usually water with some friction reducer (like soap) added to lower the frac pumping pressure. The purpose of proppant is to stop the induced fractures in the reservoir from closing after fracking stops and the elevated pressure fades away. In shale oil and shale gas wells, the proppant used is a mix of 100-mesh sand and 40-70 mesh sand, and these grains are both smaller than a millimeter across. Such small sand particle sizes are necessary for sand to be carried through narrow fractures in a fracture network created by the fracking operation. Larger sand would plug the network and not be injectable – that was found out in the early days of the shale revolution. Typically, horizontal wells in shale are two miles long and are pumped with 40 separate fracking operations or … [Read more...] about Proppant Movement In Frac Casing Has Been Nailed Down, But How Important Is It Really For Shale Wells?

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Inflation and supply chain uncertainties notwithstanding, few issues pose a greater challenge to leaders today than staffing: attracting and holding on to talent. With the number of U.S. job vacancies nearly double the number of job seekers , virtually every organization faces the same challenge. That’s why it’s important not to overthink things. Why It Is Important To Write A Good Thank You Letter
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin On May 25, 2022, Judge Greaves of the Tax Court issued a Memorandum Decision in the case of Martha L. Albrecht v. Commissioner T.C. Memo 2022-53 which shows why a well written thank you letter, even from a public charity, is so important. Martha L. Albrecht gave a large collection of Native American jewelry and artifacts to the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian late in 2014. The Museum and Mrs. Albrecht executed a Deed of Gift which recited the terms of donation and the items being donated and referred to a “Gift Agreement,” but no such agreement was provided by the Museum. UK, US, Japan, Canada to ban Russia gold imports
- A + A LONDON (June 26): Britain, the United States, Japan, and Canada will ban new imports of Russian gold as part of efforts to tighten the sanctions squeeze on Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine, the British government said on Sunday. The ban will come into force shortly and apply to newly mined or refined gold, the government statement said ahead of a meeting of Group of Seven leaders in Germany on Sunday. The move will not affect previously exported Russian-origin gold, it added. Russian gold exports were worth £12.6 billion (US$15.45 billion) last year and wealthy Russians have recently been buying bullion to reduce the financial impact of Western sanctions, the government said. "The measures we have announced today will directly hit Russian oligarchs and strike at the heart of Putin's war machine," Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in the statement. "We need to starve the Putin regime of its funding. The UK and our allies are doing just that." The … [Read more...] about UK, US, Japan, Canada to ban Russia gold imports

Do You Know Which Are The ‘Most American’ Cars For 2022?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin At one time it easy to determine which new vehicles were made in America. That would have been any models built and sold by the domestic-brand players, including General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, and certainly American Motors. Then things began to blur in the second half of the 20 th Century as U.S. automakers rebranded and cars built elsewhere in the world to help compete with the flood of fuel-efficient small European and Asian imports reaching our shores. Buick would come to sell cars built by Germany’s Opel, while Chrysler offered renamed Mitsubishis from Japan; Ford’s Capri came from Ford of Europe, and General Motors imported models from both Japan’s Suzuki and South Korea’s Daewoo. The waters would muddy even further as Asian and European automakers built assembly plants of their own in the U.S., the domestic brands moved some production to Mexico and Canada, and parts would be sourced from just about everywhere in … [Read more...] about Do You Know Which Are The ‘Most American’ Cars For 2022?
Should I Put My IRAs Into My Company’s 401(K)?

While the question is a logical one, it rarely arises because IRA “roll overs” generally happen in the opposite direction, with investors moving 401(k) assets into an IRA when they leave a job, or simply to take advantage of the investment freedom that an IRA offers. Nevertheless, there can be some good reasons to move your IRAs into your company’s 401(k). In this article, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this maneuver. Key Takeaways If you are starting a new job with an employer that offers a 401(k) plan, you might be wondering if you can move investments from your IRAs into your new plan. While unusual, this can have some advantages if you want to access your retirement funds early, or defer distributions until you retire. The disadvantage of doing … [Read more...] about Should I Put My IRAs Into My Company’s 401(K)?
