Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Big data and analytics player Palantir’s stock (NYSE: PLTR) has already lost about 21% of its value year-to-date in 2022, underperforming the S&P 500 which is down by about 6%. The stock also remains down by almost 45% from its November 2021 highs. While high-growth software stocks have seen a sell-off, due to the prospect of rising interest rates and the broader market rotation out of pandemic winners into real economy sectors, there are some stock-specific factors that are impacting Palantir, as well. For example, investors are likely a bit concerned about the slower growth at the company’s government business over Q3 2021 and also due to its growing dependence on the U.S. market for commercial revenue growth. However, we think that Palantir stock looks like a good pick at its current market price of about $15 per share. Despite the recent concerns, Palantir’s overall growth rate is likely to remain solid. Sales are on … [Read more...] about Down 45% Since November, Is Palantir Stock A Buy?

Since the beginning of this year, the Stock Exchange of Thailand has been trading in sideways-up mode on persistent foreign buying amid a generally upbeat "January effect". Popular blue chips among foreign players, such as Indorama Ventures (IVL) and Bangkok Bank (BBL), have performed rather well and partly offset selling pressures from local funds. Some holders of long-term investment fund (LTF) units became eligible to redeem units from the beginning of this year after holding them for seven calendar years. The market had avoided such redemptions during the past two years due to a change in the holding requirement from five to seven years. Therefore, the overall SET index outlook in the first half of January was not as bad as previously anticipated. In the final week of January, we expect the SET to continue in a sideways-up pattern in the range of 1,670 to 1,690 points. Brokers will be issuing more fourth-quarter 2021 earnings previews for the real sector before the earnings … [Read more...] about ‘January effect’ keeping SET afloat
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Where there is a will there’s a way, and when oil is your main source of official income, and the U.S. is roadblocking you from selling it, you’ve got to find the work-arounds. Venezuela’s ruling Socialists United Party (PSUV) seems to be doing just that with at least two willing partners – China, and Indonesia. European oil traders are also happy to oblige. In short, Venezuelan oil sanctions might not be going according to plan. Should the sanctions be lifted, then? Or can they, with any success, be tightened? And for what purpose at this point? PSUV is already a dying institution and Venezuela is a basket case nation at this point. “No sanctions regime is ever airtight. There are always ways to cheat,” says Elliot Abrams, a former Trump Administration official in charge of Venezuela sanctions policy. “We have seen illicit deals where the name of the principals involved, or of the company, or of the ships, are all changed … [Read more...] about How Venezuela’s Socialists United Is Finding Ways Around Oil Sanctions
thomas liggett Last year, Popchips’s popped potato crisps sacked the snack aisle to the tune of $73 million. This August, CEO Keith Belling is bringing his company’s segment-changing approach to the $4.5 billion tortilla-chip game. We had Ivy Stark , the corporate executive chef of New York City Mexican chain Dos Caminos, evaluate Popchips’s signature tortilla flavor, Chile Lemon. advertisement TEXTURE Belling: The popping process is the same as with potato chips, but we spent a year adjusting the heat and pressure to get a texture that wasn’t brittle. Stark: They nailed it. Nice crispness and crunch, and it doesn’t break when dipped. I tested it in our guacamole to be sure. SHAPE Belling: Potato Popchips are circular, but we wanted these to be like the triangular tortilla chips people know and expect. Stark: Chips are made by cutting a circular tortilla into wedges that get fried, so the shape adds authenticity. Plus, circular chips break too … [Read more...] about A Chip Switch: Popchips Pops Into The Tortilla Game
- A + A (Jan 25): The strategists who saw this miserable stock rout coming say there’s still more pain ahead. With the S&P 500 sliding more than 10% from recent records, bears from the likes of Mizuho International Plc and Bank of America Corp. warn of fresh selling to come as growth momentum eases just as the Federal Reserve amps up borrowing costs. “There’s probably more downside over the next few months as the market adjusts to the reality of the Fed removing accommodation, earnings slowdown and much less federal stimulus,” said Ed Clissold, the chief U.S. strategist at Ned Davis Research, who late last year predicted a double-digit drop in stocks and today is warning of a correction on the order of 20% from the early January peak. The S&P 500 could slide another 12% as a “tightening tantrum” gathers pace, according to Mizuho strategists who came into 2022 warning of a 10% to 15% plunge in the second quarter, if not sooner. A slew of factors -- … [Read more...] about Strategists who predicted this market rout also see more selling
By Steve Gash, Gun Digest Accuracy-minded shooters take notice—the Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel Hunter means business. The 6.5 Grendel is one of the more purposefully designed accuracy cartridges to ever come down the pike. So when an equally unique rifle for it comes along, accuracy-minded shooters sit up and take notice. The “Grendel Hunter” from Alexander Arms is an AR with attitude and the results to back it up. The 6.5 Grendel cartridge itself is equally impressive. Its goals were simple yet heretofore elusive in all but a few contemporary rounds, i.e., the .22 and 6PPC and similar wildcats. In fact, the 6.5 Grendel can trace its lineage to some of these outstanding cartridges. It was designed from the ground up to provide the optimum combination of power, efficiency and accuracy in America’s “modern sporting rifle” – the AR-15. To this end, it has succeeded remarkably. While the Grendel has been used successfully for hunting a large variety of medium-sized big game and … [Read more...] about Gun Test: Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel Hunter
