The Justice Department said Huawei tricked a global bank into doing sanctions-violating business with Iran and stole trade secrets from T-Mobile. Huawei has long stood accused of trying to hack into governments, and US companies in China accused the smartphone giant of forced technology transfer. Experts say China's Communist Party uses companies such as Huawei to steal tech secrets in the hopes of displacing the US as the world's superpower. Huawei, a company flagged by U.S. intelligence officials as a national security threat, was the latest device maker at the centre of a fresh wave of allegations over Facebook’s handling of private data. Chinese firms Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo and TCL were among numerous handset makers that were given access to Facebook data in a “controlled” way approved by Facebook, the social media company’s vice-president of mobile partnerships, Francisco Varela, said Tuesday. Chinese phone maker Huawei said Wednesday it has never collected or stored Facebook user data, after the social media giant acknowledged it shared such data with Huawei and other manufacturers. Huawei, a company flagged by U.S. intelligence officials as a national security threat, is the latest device maker at the center of a fresh wave of allegations over Facebook's handling of private data. Chinese firms Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo and TCL were among numerous handset makers given access to Facebook data in a "controlled" way approved by Facebook, according to a statement Tuesday from Francisco Varela, Facebook's vice president of mobile partnerships.
