The US Restaurant Industry Has Bounded Back from Covid At Every Level From Fast Food To Fine Dining

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The doomsayers who predicted the literal demise of the U.S. restaurant industry after Covid—especially at the fine dining level—proved myopic in the extreme. A new study called the “Agency Forward Restaurant Survey” compiled by Nationwide Insurance, which both insures and advises restaurants on coping with inflation to supply chain issues shows that every segment of the industry has not just survived but in many cases is thriving well past pre-pandemic levels of business. To explain the findings I spoke with Peter McMurtrie, President of Commercial Lines at Nationwide: You say reservations have returned to pre-pandemic levels. Does this apply as much to fast food and chain restaurants (which are mainly walk-in) as with higher end and fine dining? While this research study only focused on fine dining, fast casual and family-style restaurants, recent research as well as our interactions with customers have shown fast food … [Read more...] about The US Restaurant Industry Has Bounded Back from Covid At Every Level From Fast Food To Fine Dining

All The World Is A Stage, But You Don’t Have To Be A Player When You Present

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Presenters and actors have something in common. No, not performing. On the contrary, presenters should present naturally—be conversational with audiences—rather than attempt to act. The common factor is that both positions require delivering the same information multiple times to multiple audiences. In the theatre, on Broadway or Off-Broadway, that means eight or more performances a week. In business, a salesperson may have to present a new product to many different groups of customers; a human resources manager may have to explain the new company benefits plan to dozens of small groups of employees; in financing, a CEO and CFO may have to deliver their pitch to multiple investors or venture capital firms. The challenge is to keep your presentation fresh. In part, this is a matter of energy and focus. When you have to make the same points for the third, or tenth, or fiftieth time, it’s hard to feel the same sense of … [Read more...] about All The World Is A Stage, But You Don’t Have To Be A Player When You Present

The company recently announced a beta of its new creative generative AI support, Adobe Firefly, which promises to help users with little to no experience in graphic design create their own images and text effects. The announcement comes hot off the heels of Microsoft’s own generative AI launch. Its new solution, Copilot, is set to empower users of 365 and Dynamics 365 to auto-generate written content automatically. So, whether you struggle with writing, graphic design, or overall organizational skills, it’s an exciting time to get a boost from generative AI. A Generative AI Recap In case you’ve missed some of the hottest tech news lately, generative artificial intelligence is a sub-set of AI that can create text, art, imagery or other forms of content based on prompts from an individual user. Polymath Of Rap, IDK, Applies Both Sides Of His Brain

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin IDK’s creative acumen, his savvy for business, and his thoughtful airs pierce. His inner seas are oceans of song, direction, and rhymes of personal revolution. IDK is a polymath. He performs as musician and manager alike, handling the economics of his artistry, negotiating his deals firsthand. It’s as unusual as it is laudable and difficult. He’s collaborated with The Neighborhood, Saba, KAYTRANADA, Domo Genesis, Young Thug, A$AP Ferg, Denzel Curry , and Bas. Dancing with his right brain, he turns silence into capturing sound. Balancing his left brain, he confers with the powers of bureaucracy, law, and record labels. “Most artists that I meet are focused on the right brain. They tend to struggle a lot. They feel restricted. And there's a tendency to rely on their team or their manager. It’s good to have people like that, but dependence could affect your livelihood because you can't control anyone else,” said IDK. … [Read more...] about Polymath Of Rap, IDK, Applies Both Sides Of His Brain

The Earthquake In Syria And Türkiye: How IOM And Its Partners Are Delivering Urgent Relief To Millions

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin At a time when deadly global events like earthquakes, flooding, and hurricanes are on the rise we need solidarity in the international community to ensure that aid reaches those who are most vulnerable. Unfortunately we have a shortfall in global solidarity that needs strong leadership to overcome. Some organizations are standing up and setting an example for others to follow. It has been over a month since the earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria killed over 52,000 people and displaced over 5.9 million others. The massive scale of damage has left hundreds of thousands of families in need of shelter, healthcare, water and food, as well as emergency assistance. Thousands of buildings have been reduced to rubble. Hospitals - if they are still standing - are overwhelmed; food and water are scarce. In the first days following humanitarian crises, we often ask ourselves "what can I do to help?". Organizations can help address … [Read more...] about The Earthquake In Syria And Türkiye: How IOM And Its Partners Are Delivering Urgent Relief To Millions

Why Your Next Database Is A Graph

November 1, 2019 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Businesspeople like graphs. C-suite executives are fond of pie charts, Venn diagrams, histograms and all manner of schematics to illustrate sales performance, market penetration and product trajectory status. They love to use these illustrative tools as they present to each other in the boardroom. But there’s another type of graph that drives contemporary cloud-connected businesses and it runs as a new intelligence undercurrent in the IT department. There are many types of database and most are built with columns and rows, but the graph database is essentially different because it is made up of a collection of ‘nodes’ and ‘edges’. You can think of a graph database as a set of interconnected circles (nodes) and each node represents a person, a product, a place or ‘thing’ that we want to build into our data universe. The relationships and connections between the nodes on our graph database are described by ‘edges’ … [Read more...] about Why Your Next Database Is A Graph
