May 22, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): The deployment of 5G in Malaysia is poised to benefit the end users in numerous areas and create jobs for the people as the rollout being placed on track. Prof Ir Dr Hafizal Mohamad, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, said Malaysia could see the acceleration of new jobs with the advancement of the network, coupled with the new artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) applications, particularly in the education, agriculture and manufacturing sectors. Being one of the first countries in the region to build a 5G ecosystem, he said some prediction estimates that about 500,000 to 700,000 new jobs would be in place as the new 5G rollout progresses. “These new AI and AR applications are not possible with the current network unlike the 5G network. Therefore, we should be able to see quite a number of startups blooming soon to provide new services for 5G,” he told … [Read more...] about 5G network to draw vast benefits, create new jobs

Biden says ‘hello’ to N.Korea’s Kim amid tensions over weapons tests

May 22, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

US President Joe Biden (Reuters filepix by Evelyn Hockstein) - A + A SEOUL (May 22): US President Joe Biden, in Seoul before heading to Japan as part of his first Asia trip as president, had a simple message for North Korea's Kim Jong Un: "Hello... period," he told reporters on the last day of his visit to South Korea on Sunday. Biden said he was "not concerned" about new North Korean nuclear tests, which would be the first in nearly five years. But his wry response when asked what message he had for Kim underscored the administration's low-key approach to the unresolved tensions with North Korea. It is a stark contrast with former President Donald Trump's showy threats, summits, and "love letters" with Kim. Neither president's approach has led to a major breakthrough, however, and North Korea has resumed testing its largest intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), while intelligence reports suggest it is preparing for a new nuclear test. “We are … [Read more...] about Biden says ‘hello’ to N.Korea’s Kim amid tensions over weapons tests

Interview Like a STAR for Success

May 21, 2009 by www.fastcompany.com

Dynamic communication skills are one of the keys to personal and professional success that I discuss in Straight Talk for Success .  If you want to become a dynamic communicator, you need to master three basic, but critical skills: 1) conversation; 2) writing; and 3) presenting. advertisement advertisement Job interviews are some of the most important conversations you will ever have.  However, many people go into them woefully underprepared.  I was speaking with Bob Matts, a friend and a senior HR executive with a very large and prestigious company the other day.  Bob was telling me about the STAR method of interviewing that his company employs.  STAR is an acronym that means “Situation/Task — Activity – Result.”  The STAR model was developed by the consulting firm DDI and taught in a program called Targeted Selection. When Bob and his colleagues conduct interviews they always ask candidates to: 1. Describe a situation or task with which … [Read more...] about Interview Like a STAR for Success

The Games will start on July 23 next year,” said Coates, who heads the International Olympic Committee’s Coordination Commission for the Tokyo Games. “The Games were going to be, their theme, the Reconstruction Games after the devastation of the tsunami,” he added, referring to a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan in 2011. “Now very much these will be the Games that conquered COVID, the light at the end of the tunnel.” In a historic … [Read more...] about Tokyo Olympics will go ahead ‘with or without Covid’ – IOC’s Coates

May 22, 2022 by www.thestar.com.my

THEY have long graduated from secondary school but three former SMK Damansara Jaya (SMK DJ), Selangor, students still adhere to the school’s motto “to be knowledgeable to contribute”. It was precisely because of their abiding belief in this principle that Andrew Loh Zhu An, Lim Kai Shen and Ng Siew Sanz – who bade farewell to their school in 2004, 2008 and 2010, respectively – found their way to Harvard University in the United States where they are currently pursuing their postgraduate studies. Loh, who had advised African, Asian and European governments as a consultant at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, said action in service of the greater good is a value much appreciated at Harvard. “Harvard looks for people who care so deeply about issues that they are compelled to improve their communities, their country and the world,” he told StarEdu. Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This Is Us fans might not be anywhere near ready for the beloved NBC show to end this Tuesday, May 24. But series star Mandy Moore, who plays the family's matriarch, Rebecca Pearson, has had her coping mechanism in place for some time. "It was a very intentional plan to finish the show and have some new music out and be able to go on the road immediately," Moore tells me. " I'm excited, because I feel like I'll be able to take this time to really process this very seminal chapter that's closing, and be able to use the music and being able to play songs every night as a way to process what I just lived through instead of being a shell in the fetal position in my bedroom. I get to go out and do something." The show wraps this Tuesday and Moore will be out on the road by June 10 in Atlanta in support of her superb new album, In Real Life . Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee: Is The Queen, At 96, Fit To Party ‘As Never Before’?

May 22, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin London is sprucing up and getting festooned in preparation for what’s expected to be an unforgettable celebration that the country has never seen before: The Platinum Jubilee celebrating the remarkable 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II who, at 96 years old, has broken all records of a life dedicated to duty and to her people since solemnly taking her oath at the age of 21 upon the death of her beloved father. After seven decades of rule, surrounded by pomp, glamour, intrigue — and an intimately-chronicled dysfunctional family — the queen seems still firmly attached to her role as an anchor for the British people despite the vagaries and turmoils of life and history and her frail constitution.
