Former Baylor center signee Ibby Ali visited Arkansas on Friday. "I’m on my way back home," Ali said. "For now all I can say is that it went well." Ali (6-10, 235 pounds) attended Maumelle High School in 2017 and averaged 4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks while shooting 50 percent from the field as a senior. A native of Nigeria, he began playing basketball in 2014 after arriving in the United States. Earlier in the year, he said Tulane, Nebraska, Syracuse, Georgetown and Arkansas were recruiting him. He committed and signed with Baylor in April, but was recently released from his letter of intent. Boyfriend of Arkansas woman arrested in her strangulation death, police say
ROGERS — Police in Oklahoma have arrested the live-in boyfriend of a northwest Arkansas woman who was found dead last week. Rogers Police Department spokesman Keith Foster said 49-year-old Kevin Wayne Clayborn was arrested Thursday in Oklahoma City in the death of 48-year-old Misha Rivera of Rogers. Foster said Clayborn was arrested on capital murder and theft of property charges. The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that Rivera was found dead at her home with a ligature wrapped around her neck. Rivera reportedly worked at the Northwest Arkansas Women's Shelter's thrift store in Rogers. "Misha was an employee at our thrift store for over a year, was well-loved by her colleagues and was a passionate advocate to support those who are affected by domestic violence," the shelter said on Twitter. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this most difficult time." Police make arrest in fatal shooting of off-duty Arkansas officer; 2nd suspect still at large
Authorities say they have made one arrest in the April killing of an off-duty Arkansas police officer while another suspect remains at large. West Memphis Police Department Capt. Joe Baker said Demarcus Darnell Parker, 25, was taken into custody Wednesday at his Marion home for his involvement in the death of Oliver Johnson Jr. Johnson, an officer with the Forrest City Police Department., was at his home at the Meadows Apartment complex, 1101 S. Avalon St. in West Memphis, around 4 p.m. April 28 when people were firing shots outside. Multiple rounds struck the building's facade, and one bullet hit Johnson in the upper torso, Baker previously said. The bullet was likely not intended for him, according to authorities. Parker was booked into the Crittenden County jail shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday. He is charged with capital murder, criminal attempt to commit capital murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and forgery.
