Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A new Women in Global Health report shows that we still have a long way to go to achieve gender equity, although there have been strides. The report, The State of Women and Leadership in Global Health , addresses the “XX Paradox,” 70% of frontline health workers are women, but they comprise only 25% of leadership roles in health. The role of women in health delivery is enormous—they lead the care for 5 billion people and contribute $3 trillion (USD) to global health. Unjustly, half of that comes through unpaid work. This work is largely from essential community health workers subsidizing the care of their communities. Estimates are that there are a minimum of 6 million women working unpaid in health systems while, at the same time, they are trying to support themselves and their families. At the same time, these community health workers often risk their lives in providing this too often unpaid work by … [Read more...] about Women And Leadership In Global Health—Where Do We Stand Now?

A screen in Hana Bank's trading room in central Seoul shows stock and foreign exchange markets open on Thursday. [NEWS1] Stocks opened lower Thursday, tracking U.S. losses overnight, as the chief of the U.S. Federal Reserve dismisses the possibility of rate cuts this year amid concerns over instability of the global banking system. REUTERS/Tyrone Siu SYDNEY – Asian shares staged a cautious bounce on Wednesday with hopes a global banking crisis would be averted vying with uncertainty over the outlook for U.S. interest rates as the Federal Reserve holds a high-stakes meeting on policy. Efforts by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to calm nerves seemed to be working with bank shares rallying overnight. Government officials were also pondering increasing the limit on deposit insurance, though there was no agreement on this as yet. Strains were still evident among regional U.S. banks with shares of First Republic Bank sliding on suggestions the government might be involved in a rescue deal, perhaps disadvantaging shareholders. The unease left both S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures barely changed. EUROSTOXX 50 futures edged up 0.2 percent, while FTSE futures rose 0.1 percent. Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori Tour Is Music For The Masses – And The Environment
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Anyone that is in my close circle knows that I am a huge Depeche Mode fan. I have been a fan since my early teen years and have constantly followed the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. They have continued to release amazing music and this week will gift us with their 15th full-length album Memento Mori . On the heels of the death of long-time member Andrew Fletcher, the duo of Martin Gore and David Gahan use a Latin phrase to remind us that death is inevitable. However, they certainly embrace life, from a bigger picture perspective, as they recently announced an environmental sustainability component with their global tour (and yes, I have tickets). On the group’s Instagram page , they wrote,”With @hublot as our official charity partner of the Memento Mori Tour, tothether we will be supporting @conservationcollectiveorg and their grassroots projects focusing on environmental clean-up, single … [Read more...] about Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori Tour Is Music For The Masses – And The Environment

The outlook for malls across Western Europe also remains cloudy. Data (registration required) from retail footfall tracking specialist Sensormatic shows that … [Read more...] about Retail Real Estate Development Looks To India
