May 19, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Pilots at Spirit Airlines SAVE haven’t taken a position on the carrier’s merger future, but they don’t like what they have seen about the carrier’s plan for their futures. In a letter sent to members on Wednesday, Ryan Muller, chairman of the Spirit chapter of the Air Line Pilots Association, said he is concerned that Spirit has no intent to raise pilot wages over the next five years. Spirit has about 3,000 pilots. Muller said he read a JetBlue Securities & Exchange Commission filing, which described an April 19th conference call in which Spirit management described a five-year plan that “did not contemplate any wage increase for team members, including pilots, at a time of high attrition and an anticipated shortage of pilots.” The call included “members of JetBlue leadership and Spirit’s senior management team, along with representatives from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley MS and Barclays,” Muller said. … [Read more...] about Spirit Airlines Pilots Want To Know: Is The Airline Eyeing Flat Pay For Five Years?

Consider this scenario: Sales and marketing are yelling at engineering to deliver the features they promised to a customer. Product is pressuring the team to hit a release date that is quickly approaching. Engineering is rushing to hit a deadline and only then does someone suggest a security analysis. What happens? There will be some bugs in the code. Sound familiar? Balancing Customer Experience And Security Working with complex code, it is highly likely that there is a large amount of potentially vulnerable code in the wild that can affect security. If that code is already partially flawed, is it likely to lead to a perfect customer experience? One of the prevailing ideas is that this can all be fixed in production; it can, but what happens when a user encounters … [Read more...] about When Your Business Ships Bad Code, Users Lose Faith In Security

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin International business executive and highly qualified engineer, currently division president for Eaton ’s Electrical Sector in EMEA. Conversations about the energy transition tend to focus on outcomes. The United Nation’s targets are well known—world leaders have signed up to achieve carbon net-zero by 2050 and limit global warming to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to preindustrial levels. Less intently discussed is how the world will meet these targets. Countries are moving at different speeds as they develop appropriate regulatory regimes and work out new approaches to energy generation and management, with little time available to them if they are to succeed in mitigating climate change. Some of this is to be expected. Energy strategies, based on factors such as available natural resources and existing infrastructure, are rooted in decades of history. Yet the need for change is clear, with … [Read more...] about Energy Flexibility And The Push For Carbon Net-Zero
