By Julia Hollingsworth , CNN Updated 0430 GMT (1230 HKT) March 20, 2021 (CNN) Kathleen Folbigg has spent the past 18 years in prison for one of the most horrific crimes imaginable: killing all four of her babies. But new scientific evidence suggests that's not what happened. Genomic testing shows at least two of the Australian's babies likely died from a previously undiscovered genetic mutation that led to heart complications -- meaning she may have been wrongfully imprisoned for almost two decades. The finding has prompted 90 scientists -- including two Australian Nobel Laureates -- to ask the governor of New South Wales to pardon Folbigg and let her walk free. If that happens, Folbigg's case will be one of the worst miscarriages of justice in Australian history. The ramifications don't end there. Ibogaine: Busting Myths With Beond’s Dr. Felipe Malacara
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin You might be familiar with psilocybin mushrooms , ayahuasca , and MDMA , but a lesser known (and rather misunderstood) psychedelic substance, ibogaine , is gaining attention thanks to the proliferation of ibogaine treatment clinics south of the border. Ibogaine is derived from the root of the iboga shrub, which grows in Central Africa and is indigenous to Gabon. There, it is used among people who practice Bwiti, a spiritual discipline that has been passed down for hundreds if not thousands of years. In Bwiti traditions, iboga is used in initiation rites, and is thought to allow those who take it to meet with deceased ancestors and diagnose illness. When administered safely, ibogaine can have profound, life-altering effects. While people living in North America may not be as familiar with ibogaine as they are with other psychedelic drugs, those that do know about this powerful alkaloid tend to consider its … [Read more...] about Ibogaine: Busting Myths With Beond’s Dr. Felipe Malacara
Exclusive | Commerce Department pushed to keep wheat exports open but agri ministry wanted ban
Representative Image | Wheat sacks are loaded onto a truck at the grain market in Punjab. The Commerce Department had fought the plan to ban the export of wheat even as the Agriculture Ministry sounded the alarm on the fast-reducing estimates of wheat production due to the heatwave, officials told Moneycontrol . They added that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had supported keeping exports under bilateral arrangements since the Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister have till now been requested by leaders from many countries to help ensure their food security in the face of a global shortage of wheat. On May 13, India banned wheat exports with immediate effect as the world's second-largest wheat producer attempted to stabilise rising domestic prices. The government also struggled with the public procurement process, which received a low response from farmers who continued to sell at much higher prices to traders. The ban came in the backdrop of official … [Read more...] about Exclusive | Commerce Department pushed to keep wheat exports open but agri ministry wanted ban

Their menfolk are the last pocket of resistance in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, holed up in a warren of underground tunnels and bunkers at the vast Azovstal steelworks under heavy Russian bombardment. But while their partners, all fighters in Ukraine's Azov regiment, make a last stand at Azovstal, Olha Andrianova, Hanna Naumenko and Kateryna Prokopenko are engaged in their own personal battle -- to get the West to intervene to save them. After leaving Kyiv on April 23, they stopped off at the Vatican, where they were granted a five-minute audience with Pope Francis , and also visited Poland and Germany. Now in France, the young women are determined to do whatever is necessary to help save the men's lives. The Secret Ingredient to Finding Your Next Million-Dollar Innovation Idea
Companies inattentive to innovation get left behind--or worse, fail altogether. While those of us over 40 fondly remember starting our weekends with a trip to the video store, for example, the experience pales in comparison to conveniently streaming blockbuster entertainment from the comfort of your couch. While hailing a cab in New York City was fun the first time, there's nothing like the certainty of watching the map on your screen as a dedicated driver heads your way to pick you up. In other words, though one experience may have delighted us initially, a more innovative--and perhaps industry altering--option could be waiting in the wings vying for our business. Successful brands are those that out-innovate the competition. They never settle for the status quo, always seeking the next differentiator for their category. They survive in today's highly competitive landscape by continually evolving to deliver better products, better services, and--most importantly--better customer … [Read more...] about The Secret Ingredient to Finding Your Next Million-Dollar Innovation Idea
