The paper wristbands were distributed at the courthouse as a crowd control measure that was attended by fans of the actors, particularly of Depp. The bands aren’t of course special. They are colour-coded paper wristbands and just stamped with the date of entry. Depp shut down the Varanasi Restaurant in Birmingham to the public on Sunday for a dinner with 20 friends. The restaurant’s Operations Director Mohammed Hussain said Depp’s final bill was around £50,000 ($60,000) in total, TMZ reported. The 58-year-old actor has been performing with Beck in the UK and even missed the final day of the defamation trial for a show. An album is next in line for the two. JOHOR BARU: The Sessions Court here has postponed its decision on former Johor executive council member Datuk Abd Latif Bandi, his son and a property consultant’s case involving corruption and money laundering totaling RM35.7mil to August. Ukraine to begin first trial of Russian soldier accused of rape
KYIV (Reuters) - Ukraine is expected on Thursday to hold a preliminary hearing in its first trial of a Russian soldier charged with raping a Ukrainian woman during Russia's invasion, the first of what could be dozens of such cases. The suspect, Mikhail Romanov, 32, who is not in Ukrainian custody and will be tried in absentia, is accused of murdering a civilian in the Kyiv capital region on March 9 and then repeatedly raping the man's wife, according to court files. Russia's Defence Ministry did not immediately respond to a written request for comment, and Reuters was unable to reach the soldier. Moscow has denied allegations of war crimes. Romanov is accused of raping a 33-year-old woman after he and another Russian soldier shot her husband Oleksiy at point blank in the village of Bohdanivka to the northeast of Kyiv. PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court fixed Monday (June 27) for case management in Datuk Seri Najib Razak's application to adduce additional evidence in his SRC International Sdn Bhd case in a bid to nullify the trial in which he was convicted, sentenced to 12 years’ jail and fined RM210mil. KUALA LUMPUR: Former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy ( pic ) is taking the stand as a witness in the 1MDB audit tampering trial at the High Court here on Friday (June 24). This follows a decision by High Court judge Justice Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, who allowed the prosecution's application to call Arul, a co-accused along with former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, to testify as a prosecution witness. The judge said that he was satisfied with the prosecution's grounds for the application. "There is no hindrance for the prosecution to make the application at any stage in their case. REPORT: Judge Imposes $9 Million Bond On Amber Heard If She Appeals Her Case
The judge who presided over Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s defamation trial officially entered the judgement into court record Friday, and conditions may make it costly for Heard to appeal, TMZ reported. The judge has indicated that if Heard wants to move forward with appealing the verdict , she must post bond for the $8.35 million she already owes Depp as well as an additional $621,000, according to TMZ . The nature of the 6% additional fee hasn’t been expressly explained but might be a form of interest penalty for the delay an appeal would create in the collection of the original amount that was awarded to Depp, the outlet reported.
