Health benefits of palm oil

Palm oil climbs as Indonesia considers raising biodiesel mandate

July 1, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A SINGAPORE (June 30): Palm oil resumed an advance as top producer Indonesia considers a plan to increase its biodiesel mandate, a move aimed at slashing its fuel import costs and soaking up bulging edible oil stockpiles. Futures for September delivery climbed as much as 1.5% to RM4,975 (US$1,129) a ton, reversing an earlier drop of 1.9%, before closing slightly higher. Indonesia may raise the required palm content in biodiesel to 35% from the current 30%, a ministry official said. This could tighten palm oil supplies. If the plan materializes, it will likely absorb an additional 1.5 million tons of crude palm oil on top of the 9.7 million to 10 million tons used for the current B30 mix, said Sathia Varqa, owner of Palm Oil Analytics in Singapore. Indonesia has ample stockpiles of around 7 million tons in May, so feedstock for biodiesel isn’t a problem, according to Varqa. “The main barrier would be a surge in crude palm oil exports limiting the feedstock … [Read more...] about Palm oil climbs as Indonesia considers raising biodiesel mandate

The Entrepreneur Behind New York’s Latest Health Food Craze

January 27, 2015 by www.inc.com

Marco Canora has long been a chef's chef, turning out seemingly simple dishes that require years of training to prepare consistently and well. He's received wide-ranging accolades for his restaurants, including Hearth in New York City's East Village. Yet today Canora is achieving new fame for a food that takes almost no skill to make, uses no fancy ingredients, and is completely unglamorous: bone broth. Bone broth is exactly what it sounds like: a pile of animal bones, covered in water; some vegetable scraps; and often a bit of cider vinegar--all boiled until the bones crumble. But despite--or because of--its simplicity, bone broth is having a moment. It's long been popular among some athletes and the paleo crowd, but now, thanks in large part to Canora, it's going mainstream. As a chef, Canora has been sipping bone broth for years, which may have been the only healthy part of a diet that until recently consisted largely of bread, butter, cigarettes, and alcohol. Like many … [Read more...] about The Entrepreneur Behind New York’s Latest Health Food Craze

MPOB to millers: Continue buying FFB or we will revoke your licence

June 30, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (June 30): The government has warned palm oil millers that their operating licences may be suspended if they ceased buying oil palm fruits from smallholders following the sharp fall in the oil’s prices. Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng said the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) issued a warning letter to the millers on Thursday (June 30), stressing that action will be taken against those found disrupting the country’s palm oil production. The millers were reminded to carry out their palm oil milling operations and comply with the legislative requirements under the Malaysian Palm Oil Act 1998 (Act 582), Wee said in a statement. Drastic action including suspension of licences would be taken against millers proven to have ceased operations, he said, noting such conduct would render the actual purpose of issuing the licences meaningless. "I view this matter seriously and request palm oil millers not … [Read more...] about MPOB to millers: Continue buying FFB or we will revoke your licence

5 Fantastic Plant-Based Skincare Brands For Mama And Baby

June 30, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Baby skin is incredibly delicate and as a new mother, I’ve made it a priority to seek out skincare brands that are nourishing and beneficial for baby and myself. If you think about it, skin-to-skin contact is one of most powerful ways of bonding with your tiny human. In light of this, I was concerned about the transfer of not-so-friendly ingredients and its absorption by my little one. Thankfully, the following all-natural and plant-based brands are formulated to lovingly care for babes and mamas. These are the top picks: Baby Bum : I’ve always found that the gloopy texture and pungent scent of sunscreen to be very off-putting. Fortunately, this isn’t the case with Sun Bum and Baby Bum products - they smell like a tropical vacation and are gentle enough for my infant. A favorite with my little one is their SPF 50 sunscreen lotion. As a mom, I have peace of mind because their formulas are made of safe minerals to … [Read more...] about 5 Fantastic Plant-Based Skincare Brands For Mama And Baby

As stocks trade off highs, is the rally in commodities over?

June 29, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Commodity stocks including metals, miners and energy names have seen profit booking in the recent months even as supply problems are far from over while prices of commodities have been choppy. Nifty Commodities index, comprising names like Reliance Industries, ONGC, UltraTech cements, Vedanta and 26 others, has fallen about 23 per cent from 52-week highs hit in April –  at the height of Russia-Western World tensions. Commodity stocks – especially from metal and energy sectors – were among the biggest gainers in the recent boom in prices led by burgeoning demand after the pandemic. However, as the demand is plateauing, prices have also decreased for many commodities. Does that mean the super cycle in these names are over and investors should taper their expectations from now on, thus exiting the space? Not really, said analysts, who believe there could be another round of buying as the situation remains precarious. “Commodity stocks have already fallen from their recent … [Read more...] about As stocks trade off highs, is the rally in commodities over?

Decoding Ghislaine Maxwell: By Way Of Apology At Sentencing, She Tries To Recast Herself As An Epstein “Victim”

June 30, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s an open question whether Ghislaine Maxwell’s sentence of 20 years and her fine of $750,000 handed down by Judge Alison Nathan on June 28 will bring the longed-for end of the decades-long nightmare to Jeffrey Epstein’s and Ghislaine Maxwell’s many victims, both those who figured in Ms. Maxwell’s indictment and trial and the many dozens who did not. On the positive side for those victims, Maxwell’s sentencing does at least signal a resolution of this set of proceedings and provides an interregnum for assessing events thus far, as the convicted felon now begins the formalities of serving what remains of her sentence in her assigned federal facility in Danbury, Connecticut. But with Ms. Maxwell’s and her attorneys’ stated intent to appeal, it seems likely that, in a larger way, Ghislaine Maxwell’s own narrative of her years with Epstein and her quotient of guilt in the many civil and criminal matters that enveloped her … [Read more...] about Decoding Ghislaine Maxwell: By Way Of Apology At Sentencing, She Tries To Recast Herself As An Epstein “Victim”
