Sensational Sindhu enters final in Commonwealth Games 2022
Double Olympic medallist P V Sindhu stayed on course for an elusive gold medal after progressing to her second successive women’s singles final at the Commonwealth Games here on Sunday. The 27-year-old Indian rode on her superior technical superiority to outwit Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min 21-19 21-17 in a 49-minute contest. A former world champion, Sindhu, who has a silver and a bronze from the 2018 and 2014 editions, was clearly the better player on display as she kept a firm grip on the match. Sindhu seemed a bit restricted in her movement with the achilles of her left leg strapped. The Singaporean played some good-looking shots to make it 8-4 early on but she was callous to allow the Indian draw level. Sindhu seemed a bit restricted in her movement with the achilles of her left leg strapped. Sindhu entered the break with a two-point lead after producing a straight drop. The Indian depended on her technical acumen, producing the right shots at the right time to keep … [Read more...] about Sensational Sindhu enters final in Commonwealth Games 2022

This article first appeared in City & Country, The Edge Malaysia Weekly, on July 25, 2022 - July 31, 2022. - A + A Additional questions from those who attended The Edge Malaysia RealTalk 2022 were sent via email after the event. Here are the responses from the speakers. Anthony Lee 1. I was recently informed by the joint management office that the unit on the 15th floor has a water leak and it is due to water dripping from the common toilet. May I know who is responsible for repairing this sewerage pipe/water leak? In strata properties, water leaks or seepages that emanate from a higher floor that affect the floor below may be termed as an inter-floor leakage. The source of water leakage is usually the bathrooms, toilets, sewerage, water pipes or roofing, resulting in water stains, paint damage, mould or bio-hazardous wastewater. Unfortunately, inter-floor leakage has become a serious and recurring systemic problem in high-rise … [Read more...] about After The Forum
The appealing nature of Najib and Rosmah
This article first appeared in The Edge Malaysia Weekly, on August 1, 2022 - August 07, 2022. - A + A LAST week marked the two-year mark since Datuk Seri Najib Razak was found guilty of seven charges of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money laundering in relation to RM42 million belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd. That his appeal process continues two years after the High Court handed him a 12-year jail sentence and fine of RM210 million is mind-boggling to many who are not aware of or following the various applications, appeals and delays — some inadvertent — that have dogged the case. Take the latest development last week, for instance, when Najib shockingly dismissed his lawyers, Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah and Harvinderjit Singh, just ahead of his appeal at the Federal Court and appointed Zaid Ibrahim Suflan T H Liew & Partners (ZIST), with experienced criminal solicitor Hisyam Teh Poh Teik to lead the appeal. In changing lawyers, … [Read more...] about The appealing nature of Najib and Rosmah
Editor Daily Rundown: Democrat Handwringing Accelerates Ahead Of Midterm Elections
DEM HANDWRINGING ACCELERATES… HILL : Democratic anxiety grows over Biden’s dismal polls Democrats are growing increasingly worried about President Biden’s standing in the polls seven months out from the midterm elections. Biden hasn’t seen a boost in his approval ratings amid Russia’s war in Ukraine despite support among Americans for the steps that he has taken. While the economy continues to gain jobs and the unemployment rate is low, something Biden touted on Friday, inflation is at a 40-year high and gas prices are through the roof, exacerbated by the Russian invasion. Democrats for months have feared they will lose the House majority this fall, and they are worried about losing the Senate, too, with polls showing Biden performing poorly in key states such as Arizona. “It’s bad,” said one Democratic strategist. “You have an energy crisis that’s paralyzing and inflation is at a 40-year high and we’re heading into a recession. The problem is simple. The American … [Read more...] about Editor Daily Rundown: Democrat Handwringing Accelerates Ahead Of Midterm Elections
