By Aaron Carter, Shooting Illustrated “Shoot from the hip” and “stick to your guns” are two prevalent idioms that happen to have firearm terminology. However, one that’s especially fitting for Ceska zbrojovka Uhersky Brod (CZ) is “third time’s the charm.” Why? Unveiled in 2009, the CZ EVO 3 A1 was the third (hence the name, “Evolution [EVO] 3”) and best incarnation of the selective-fire, blowback-operated, Scorpion-series submachine guns that originated as the brainchild of Ing. Miroslav Rybar (and upward of 13 other designers): the Samopal vzor 61, better known as the Skorpion vz. 61. – Trigger-pull weight is heavy, but the trigger group itself removes simply for ease of maintenance. – The Scorpion EVO 3 A1 Unveiled for the first time in May 2009, the selective-fire Scorpion EVO 3 A1 represented a true departure from normalcy for CZ. In fact, the new submachine gun outwardly showed no resemblance to either the XCZ 868 prototype or its first- and … [Read more...] about Gun Test: CZ EVO 3 S1 Scorpion Submachine Gun

Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich told reporters Monday that he will veto both a bill banning abortion in the presence of an unborn baby’s heartbeat as well as a bill eliminating the duty to retreat before using deadly force. ‘I Am Going To Get Assault Weapons Banned’: Biden Pledges To Go After Guns During MLK Day Speech
President Joe Biden announced Monday that he will continue his campaign to ban all so-called “assault rifles” during his remarks at the National Action Network’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast. Biden pledged to continue his goal of banning “assault weapons,” saying that there is no “social redeeming value” to owning “assault weapons” because deer do not wear “Kevlar vests,” according to the president’s remarks. Furthermore, Biden questioned why Americans need so many bullets, saying “ban the number of bullets that can go in a magazine. No, no need for any of that.” “About a month after Buffalo and Uvalde, visited both, I signed the first major gun safety legislation in 13 years and I’ll say what I said then and I’ll say it over and over again: I am going to get assault weapons banned. I did it once and I’m going to do it again,” Biden said. Timelines In Tax History: Guns, Butter, And The Vietnam War Tax Surcharge
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The American economy was booming in the mid-1960s. Real GDP growth averaged more than 5% between 1961 and 1967, reaching as high as 6.5% in 1966. Millions of Americans enjoyed the fruits of this prosperity, including rising incomes and plentiful jobs. Tax cuts got much of the credit for this growth — especially the one enacted in 1964. As the economist Arthur Okun observed : “The best known fact about the Revenue Act of 1964 is that, in the year and a half since it took effect, economic activity has expanded briskly.” But as Okun also pointed out, a causal relationship can’t be inferred from a sequential one; just because prosperity had followed the tax cut didn’t mean that the tax cut had caused the prosperity. Other fiscal forces were also at work, including robust government spending. The ambitious social programs of President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society were part of the story. So, too, were military … [Read more...] about Timelines In Tax History: Guns, Butter, And The Vietnam War Tax Surcharge
Illinois’ Sweeping Gun Law Is Only 8 Days Old And It’s Already Facing Multiple Lawsuits
Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed a sweeping gun bill into law eight days ago, and it is already facing multiple lawsuits. Gun rights advocacy groups, firearms retailers and Illinois residents filed the slew of lawsuits Wednesday, arguing that the law, which bans so-called “assault weapons” and high capacity magazines, violates the Second, Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution, further saying that the Illinois legislature failed to properly adopt the law, according to court filings in the Effingham County Circuit Court, Crawford County Circuit Court, and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. Democratic Illinois lawmakers passed the law, HB 5471 , in early January during the lame duck legislative session, and dozens of sheriffs announced that they would not enforce the “unconstitutional” law. The first lawsuit, filed on behalf of 860 Effingham County residents and multiple firearm retailers, claims the law violates several … [Read more...] about Illinois’ Sweeping Gun Law Is Only 8 Days Old And It’s Already Facing Multiple Lawsuits
Matt Gaetz Calls To Abolish The ATF After Agency Issues Rule Allegedly Making It Harder For Certain People To Buy Guns
Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced legislation Wednesday that would abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) after they enacted a rule that would make pistol stabilizing braces illegal for anyone without a certain license. The legislation, titled the “Abolish the ATF Act,” would totally eliminate the ATF immediately after the bill is enacted. Gaetz introduced the bill after the ATF announced they would make gun owners face the possibility of being charged with a felony if they do not register their firearms with the stabilizing braces. Gaetz said that the House GOP has the ATF in their “crosshairs.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans Demand Answers On Rights Of Americans To Build Silencers) “House Republicans have the ATF in our crosshairs. The ATF’s Pistol Brace Final Rule Sets The Stage To Classify Legal Gun Owners As Criminals
A recent rule by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) could classify millions of gun owners as felons should they fail to comply with the updated requirements, according to gun rights advocacy groups. The rule will force pistol brace owners, many disabled, to register their pistols as short barrel rifles (SBR) with the federal government or face up to 10 years in jail and a potential $10,000 fine. Should pistol brace owners decide to remove the brace from their firearm, they will need to destroy the attachment so that it cannot be reinstalled, an action the ATF has no authority to regulate, according to the National Rifle Association (NRA). The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) recently implemented pistol brace final rule could classify millions of gun owners as felons should they fail to comply with the updated requirements, according to the gun rights advocacy groups. As Baldwin faces charges, gun safety on sets ‘gets louder’
By ANDREW DALTON LOS ANGELES (AP) — Film production and firearms experts say movie sets probably changed permanently when cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed on the remote New Mexico set of the Western “Rust” 14 months ago, leading to the announcement from prosecutors Thursday that Alec Baldwin and the film’s weapons supervisor will be charged with involuntary manslaughter later this month. “The gun safety experience on set has become more vocal, it’s a lot louder,” said Joey Dillon, an armorer who has overseen the use of firearms on television shows including “Westworld” and movies including “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.” “I make it a lot louder myself.” Baldwin was pointing the gun with a live round inside that killed Hutchins as they set up a shot for an upcoming scene. People at several levels of production are determined to ensure it never happens again. That has meant the increasing use of digital and other technology that could make gunfire of any … [Read more...] about As Baldwin faces charges, gun safety on sets ‘gets louder’
