Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The next Apple watch may be called the Apple Watch X, not the Apple Watch Series 9, according to French website iPhoneSoft . This would be the second time a key Apple mobile tech series has skipped a “9” generation. In 2017, Apple chose to call its lead phone the iPhone X, not the iPhone 9. The official line is this was down to the handset marking 10 years of the iPhone series. “iPhone X” sounded more dynamic and, sure enough, the mobile did represent a major shift in iPhone design. The iPhone X introduced us to the display notch, used to house the tech required for Apple’s face recognition, which was impressive from day one. However, there is another explanation. The number ”9” is considered unlucky in Japan, because when spoken aloud it sounds similar to the word for suffering. Could this be the real reason for the diversion in naming, particularly at a time when the mobile tech market is in the most … [Read more...] about Next Apple Watch May Be Apple Watch X, Not Series 9

After Liver King’s fall, the ancestral living movement will need a new dad
There’s a caveman-sized gap in the wellness industry. Brian Johnson, better known as Liver King, has embodied the “ancestral living” movement for the past couple of years, his jacked, sunburnt, Caucasian physique defining the aesthetic for his millions of devotees, regardless of what their own actual ancestors may have looked like. Johnson’s Instagram and TikTok accounts, followed by more than 5 million people, showcase his ripped body—supposedly built solely through lengthy, grueling workouts and regular consumption of raw beef liver and testicles—and he has popularized certain phrases, such as “Why eat vegetables when you can eat testicles?” through a volume-forward posting strategy. His thriving retail operation, Ancestral Supplements, hawks desiccated cow liver and bull testicle capsules. His “Nine Ancestral Tenets,” a collection of nouns and verbs, are “sleep, eat, move, shield, connect, cold, sun, fight, and bond.” Today, Johnson is also the defendant in a … [Read more...] about After Liver King’s fall, the ancestral living movement will need a new dad
Shubman Gill, Umran Malik have real potential, says Kiwi expert Simon Doull
Former New Zealand player Simon Doull (Photo by Visionhaus/Getty Images) He may have played just 32 Test matches and 42 one-day internationals (ODIs), but he is one of the most familiar Kiwi faces around the world for his commentary and his role as a cricket expert. Former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull is still one of those rare former players who doesn’t believe in mincing his words while giving his opinions. Recently, Moneycontrol.com spoke to the 53-year-old on a range of issues related to Indian and world cricket. Here is an edited excerpt. It was a bit disappointing the way rain spoiled the last India-NZ series in New Zealand. Yeah, it is, I think India were looking for some answers, looking to find out a few things about the one-day side, figure out some players whether are good enough to play, and I am not sure that they have got a lot of answers, they have probably figured out that Washington Sundar when fit should probably be in the playing 11, they have figured … [Read more...] about Shubman Gill, Umran Malik have real potential, says Kiwi expert Simon Doull
England’s Hospitals Under ‘Relentless Pressure’ As E.R. Woes Continue
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin England’s hospitals continue to endure “relentless” pressure on their accident and emergency services, data from England’s National Health Service shows. The latest NHS England “ situation report ” shows that ambulances took more than 77,000 people to emergency departments last week: an increase of roughly 5,000 on the week before. Bed occupancy remains stubbornly high, with more than 95% of general and acute hospital beds filled. Staff absence has fallen, however, as has the number of patients in hospital with flu. Despite ongoing pressure, NHS providers also saw a fall in delays handing over patients from ambulances to emergency departments this week: a key marker of patient flow through hospitals. Lengthy ambulance delays have become commonplace in England as hospitals have struggled to free up space for new patients in hospitals. This winter has seen particularly poor ambulance handover performance, with … [Read more...] about England’s Hospitals Under ‘Relentless Pressure’ As E.R. Woes Continue

The hottest Gen Z gadget is a 20-year-old digital camera
Last spring, Anthony Tabarez celebrated prom like many of today’s high schoolers: dancing the night away and capturing it through photos and videos. The snapshots show Tabarez, 18, and his friends grinning, jumping around and waving their arms from a crowded dance floor. But instead of using his smartphone, Tabarez documented prom night with an Olympus FE-230, a 7.1-megapixel, silver digital camera made in 2007 and previously owned by his mother. During his senior year of high school, cameras like it started appearing in classrooms and at social gatherings. On prom night, Tabarez passed around his camera, which snapped fuchsia-tinted photos that looked straight from the early aughts. “We’re so used to our phones,” said Tabarez, a freshman at California State University, Northridge. “When you have something else to shoot on, it’s more exciting.” The cameras of Generation Z’s childhoods, seen as outdated and pointless by those who originally owned them, are in vogue again. Young … [Read more...] about The hottest Gen Z gadget is a 20-year-old digital camera
