Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin American Dream would like to be talking about how it acquired the neighbouring 30-acre site to its East Rutherford, NJ. home to eventually bring the complex to a total of 120 acres. It would like to talk about the opening of an Apple store on Dec. 3 last year, plus its large Gucci and Saks 5 th Avenue stores, or the reopening of its Big Snow indoor ski slope, months after a major fire forced it to shut down. But right now American Dream is struggling to catch a break . Owned and operated by Canadian development and finance corporation Triple Five, which also established the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta in 1981 and Mall of America in Minnesota, which opened in 1992, American Dream Mall Municipal bonds tied to American Dream, missed an $8.8 million semi-annual debt service payment due Feb. 1. Pandemic, loan waivers, slowing growth increase states’ debt. Find out those with high burden
Pandemic-related spending, farm loan waivers and slowing growth are among the reasons which have increased states’ debt over the last few years, according to a parliamentary response. “As per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) report… States’ outstanding debt has shown a gradual upward movement inter alia due to implementation of Ujjwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY), farm loan waivers, pandemic-related revenue losses, additional expenditures and growth slowdown,” Pankaj Chaudhary, the minister of state in the ministry of finance, said. “However, the RBI has informed that States have been regularly servicing the State Government Securities,” he added. States’ finances have been under the spotlight amid an ongoing debate on freebies. States in India are allowed to borrow from the bond market but there is a cap on how much they can borrow, linked to their gross domestic product. States have also enacted their Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, the compliance to … [Read more...] about Pandemic, loan waivers, slowing growth increase states’ debt. Creativity Takes Courage: Counseling Outside The Box
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin For as long as I can remember, art has been an essential part of my life. Even at my kindergarten graduation, I announced on stage that “when I grow up, I am going to be an artist.” Sketching, painting, crafting, and music have always been my favorite ways to self-soothe as a teenager filled with angst to an adult weathering a pandemic world. While growing up, I found that along with art I had a passion for helping others. I remember at 19 years old struggling to decide on a new career path after my plan of becoming a fashion designer didn’t quite fit. My mom and I were riding in the car, and she said, “You have always been a helper, have you thought about being a counselor?” Well, like they say… Mothers know best. My brain was buzzing with ideas on how I could combine my two passions: art and helping. I understood art’s healing powers and wanted to use it to help others. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree in … [Read more...] about Creativity Takes Courage: Counseling Outside The Box
Australia Face Test Cricket’s Toughest Challenge Amid Indian Gamesmanship
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The images of the eyebrow raising pitch preparation for the series-opener between India and Australia were probably enough to spook the visitors. In what could be termed as gamesmanship from the hosts, or “pitch doctoring” to others, ground staff at Nagpur's VCA Stadium were tailoring the surface in an apparent bid to help India gain an advantage ahead of the first Test starting on Thursday. Already facing the toughest challenge in cricket, with India having not lost a home Test series in a decade, Australia's task appears even more daunting on a surface expected to spin heavily. But this Australian team, increasingly moulded in composed skipper Pat Cummins' image, might not be rattled so easily unlike previous agitated sides. "There potentially may be a fair bit of rough out there. That's just something we've got to embrace," Cummins told reporters on Wednesday. "It's going to be fun, it's going to be … [Read more...] about Australia Face Test Cricket’s Toughest Challenge Amid Indian Gamesmanship

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Pressure is mounting from Republicans and some Democrats in Congress to pass a national ban on TikTok, the social video app owned by Chinese company ByteDance which has already been banned on federal devices and some college campuses over privacy concerns. Key Facts TikTok has faced calls for bans from critics who fear China may use the platform to access the data of American users. American Dream Mall—Touted As Retail’s Future—Now Seems More Like A Nightmare For Its Owner
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Owners don’t typically tell a public audience that they wish their sparkling new $5 billion shopping center had burned to the ground. But then you’d need a heart of stone not to empathize with the sentiment behind Kurt Hagen’s startling words when he addressed local council leaders last month. The American Dream mega-mall, tipped as the future of retail in America, is in danger of costing owner Triple Five Group dear, as its New Jersey complex rapidly descends into the stuff of nightmares. As a result, Triple Five has put up nearly half the ongoing profits of two of North America’s largest malls – Mall of America, Minn. and West Edmonton Mall, Canada – in order to appease circling creditors. Yet the question at the heart of this multi-billion-dollar story is how a scheme, just a 30-minute ride from Manhattan, that embodies real estate's futuristic vision of mixing retail, leisure, entertainment and dining within one … [Read more...] about American Dream Mall—Touted As Retail’s Future—Now Seems More Like A Nightmare For Its Owner
