June 27, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

This article first appeared in The Edge Malaysia Weekly, on June 20, 2022 - June 26, 2022. - A + A DESPITE the reopening of borders since April 1, when Malaysia allowed quarantine-free travel for fully-vaccinated travellers into the country, it will be some time before the hotel industry regains a strong footing following the debilitating lockdowns of 2020 and 2021. In fact, it may well take another year at least before operators can operate at their full capacities at pre-pandemic levels, Malaysian Association of Hotel Owners (MAHO) president Tan Sri Teo Chiang Hong tells The Edge. “Average occupancy rates are an estimated 30% to 50% of pre-pandemic levels,” says Teo, who is owner and director of One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. He notes that resort destinations are seeing full occupancies while city hotels still face low occupancy. As at November 2020, a total of 204 tourism and hotel operators had shut down following the impact of the … [Read more...] about The State of the Nation: Hospitality industry struggling to cope despite borders reopening, brighter prospects

FILE PHOTO: Juan Ponce Enrile. INQUIRER FILES MANILA, Philippines — Former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile, 98, is confined in a hospital due to COVID-19. In a post on his personal Facebook account, the incoming legal adviser of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos made an appeal “(t)o all my FB friends, critics, and enemies” to “(p)lease bear with me. I am in the hospital.” But it appears that the nonagenarian is asymptomatic, as he noted not feeling any discomfort and that his body temperature has been normal, except for a dry cough. “To my critics and enemies: Do not clap with glee. I am not going to die yet. Far from it,” Enrile also wrote on Facebook. “Since three (3) days ago after I entered Makati Med. when I was diagnosed ‘positive’ for COVID virus. I never had any discomfort. No chills. No fever. No headache. No malaise. My body temperature ranges from 36* to 36.8*. My body oxygen ranges from 96 to 99. Opinion: The aftershocks of America’s abortion earthquake will be felt for decades

June 27, 2022 by edition.cnn.com

(CNN) Following the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, CNN Opinion asked a group of contributors to weigh in on the cultural, legal and political ramifications of this monumental legal opinion undoing nearly 50 years of federal abortion protection. The views expressed in these commentaries are those of the authors. SE Cupp: What politicians get wrong about the abortion debate I'm deeply worried for our country. Read More No matter where you stand on the issue -- I'm pro-life but do not support a ban on abortions -- this ruling represents a seismic shift in American life as most of us knew it. I'm 43, and Roe is older than I am. There are more people alive today who have never known an America without Roe than there are people who lived without it. Stripping away what many women have only known as a right for nearly 50 years, without putting anything in its place is dangerous. Criminalizing … [Read more...] about Opinion: The aftershocks of America’s abortion earthquake will be felt for decades

June 27, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin By Nathan Resnick Sending out a press release is a great way to get significant attention for your company. While the majority of journalists use press releases as a source for news, standing out in today’s digital environment can be difficult. Some news outlets receive hundreds of press releases in a single day—so it shouldn’t be surprising that 70% of journalists spend less than a minute reading each one. You don’t have much time to make an impression and get that coveted press coverage for your brand. Putting in some extra work to make sure the press release will be a smashing success before you send it out can make all the difference. What makes a great press release? 1. Your content is truly newsworthy This is the first big test: Is the topic of your press release actually newsworthy? Is it something that journalists—and the wider audience they serve—will care about? In many ways, … [Read more...] about 4 Signs Your Latest Press Release Will Be A Success

Outriders ‘Worldslayer’ Expansion Review: Horde Of Destruction

June 27, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Well, they really did it. In an effort to emulate pretty much every aspect of the Diablo series as much as possible, Outriders has packed almost all of its significant additions into a Lord of Destruction/Reaper of Souls style expansion for the game, which is out this week. It’s called Worldslayer , it costs $40, and you can boost your character instantly to the level to play it if you’ve fallen behind, but even veterans will find a long, long road of grinding ahead of them, with the way the expansion builds out the endgame. But while I did enjoy what I played, I did find myself in a familiar predicament by the end, where solo play felt exhausting and punishing, and getting really deep into the endgame will require friends who are still playing, or matchmaking in what has been an increasingly shrinking pool of players. But we’ll see if Worldslayer brings them back. Worldslayer is essentially split into two parts: … [Read more...] about Outriders ‘Worldslayer’ Expansion Review: Horde Of Destruction
