Why ‘Creative Destruction’ Might Be Your Business’ Missing Piece

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Of the many things that can bring about the end of a business, few can be more lethal than stagnation — not changing or improving. As General Electric’s former CEO and management guru Jack Welch explained , this lack of inertia or momentum was one of the most dangerous things that could happen to a business: “When I try to summarize what I’ve learned since 1981, one of the big lessons is that change has no constituency. People like the status quo. They like the way it was. When you start changing things, the good old days look better and better. You’ve got to be prepared for massive resistance.” So how do you keep your own business from falling into stagnation? The solution very likely lies in the concept of creative destruction. With proper implementation, creative destruction can prove to be the missing piece your business needs to stand out from its competition in a meaningful way. Understanding Creative … [Read more...] about Why ‘Creative Destruction’ Might Be Your Business’ Missing Piece

Paris 2024: Will Electric Air Taxis Be Ready For Summer Olympics?

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The company that operates Paris’ airports insists that plans are moving ahead to launch an air taxi service for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Solène Le Bris of Groupe ADP, which manages Charles De Gaulle and Orly airports, confirmed the timeline while speaking at an Amsterdam drone conference, according to The Guardian. “We are trying to launch the first e-VTOL [vertical takeoff and landing] pre-commercial service in the world: that’s our ambition,” she said. The air taxis are designed by a company called VoloCity . The first of five “vertiports” opened last year Cergy-Pontoise to help test the service. Eventually, commercial passengers will be able to board and disembark from the air taxis at these points. While the service may potentially be revolutionary, its practical impact will likely be limited. The air taxis only have room for the pilot and one passenger. As such, the number of tickets … [Read more...] about Paris 2024: Will Electric Air Taxis Be Ready For Summer Olympics?

Turtle Launches Electric Bike Cab To Whisk Riders Around Streets Of Paris

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Micro-mobility startup Turtle has launched an on-demand electric bike service that allows riders to order via an application a bike cab driven by a chauffeur. Turtle says its new urban passenger transport service targets both Parisians and tourists who want a unique and affordable alternative to ride-sharing services like Uber. The vehicle has three wheels and the company says that it emits no emissions and is made entirely of recycled material. The launch of the service comes after 5 months of testing including 3,100 trips. Because Turtle can use Paris’ growing network of bike lanes, the company is betting that it can deliver faster trips than cars or even public transportation, particularly during periods of heavy traffic. To attract riders, the application will display the price before the ride begins. And all the drivers have completed a training program and will be salaried employees rather than independent … [Read more...] about Turtle Launches Electric Bike Cab To Whisk Riders Around Streets Of Paris

March 27, 2023 by newsinfo.inquirer.net

MANILA, Philippines — Earth Hour 2023 held last Saturday saved a total of 62.69 megawatts of electricity nationwide, the Department of Energy said in a statement on Monday. The DOE reported that a total of 62.69 MW of power was saved for the entire country during the one-hour switch-off, starting at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The largest savings was 33.29 MW in Luzon, followed by 20.5 MW in Mindanao and 8.9 MW in the Visayas. “This also illustrates how purposeful behavior could achieve something big and worthy,” the DOE said. The total power saved this year is lower than 65.32 MW in 2022 and 73.01 MW in 2021. On Saturday, a number of Filipinos turned their lights off for an hour between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Earth Hour is an annual symbolic lights-out event that started in Sydney, Australia, in 2007 to work together on the planet’s biggest environmental challenges. The DOE also enjoined the public to continue energy conservation measures at home at work by … [Read more...] about Earth Hour 2023 in PH saves 62.69 MW of electricity

July 9, 2021 by www.forbes.com

Key Facts Aduhelm, Biogen’s monoclonal antibody drug to treat Alzheimer’s disease, was approved by the FDA on June 7, despite limited evidence that it actually works against the disease. A recent investigation by STAT News revealed that Biogen executives met multiple times with FDA officials through “back channels” in the months before the drug was approved. US, Japan strike trade deal on electric vehicle battery minerals

March 28, 2023 by business.inquirer.net

WASHINGTON  – The United States and Japan on Tuesday announced a trade deal on electric vehicle battery minerals that is key to strengthening their battery supply chains and granting Japanese automakers wider access to the new $7,500 U.S. EV tax credit. The swiftly negotiated agreement prohibits the two countries from enacting bilateral export restrictions on the minerals most critical for EV batteries, according to senior Biden administration officials. Those minerals include lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite and manganese. The deal also aims to reduce U.S.-Japanese dependence on China for such materials by requiring collaboration to combat “non-market policies and practices” of other countries in the sector and on conducting investment reviews of foreign investments in their critical minerals supply chains. Minerals-focused trade deals are one way that the Biden administration hopes to open up access for trusted allies to the $7,500 per vehicle EV tax credits in last year’s … [Read more...] about US, Japan strike trade deal on electric vehicle battery minerals

Helixx Introduces Mc-Mobility Small EV Manufacturing Concept

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Here are two words you wouldn’t expect to see in the same sentence: mobility and Big Mac. Yet UK startup Helixx has introduced a way to quickly assemble a slate of low-cost electric commercial vehicles based on the method McDonalds, like many other fast food franchises, uses to build its burgers. Initially on Helixx’s fast-fleet menu are the CARGO, a delivery van, TRUCK caters to the construction business, the open-bodied TUK and close-bodied RIDE are aimed at ride-share and taxi fleets. But they won’t be built in expansive central assembly plants. Helixx’s secret sauce is its concept of factories in a box it called Helixx Mobility Hubs. Think of each hub as a fast-food restaurant that both assembles and markets its products. Similar to a franchise arrangement, Helixx sells licenses to its technology and it provides everything the license holder needs to build and operate a factory, then market the vehicles on a … [Read more...] about Helixx Introduces Mc-Mobility Small EV Manufacturing Concept

It’s About Time We Abandoned The Term’ Soft Skills’

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The leadership development industry—now valued at a staggering $67 billion and slated to grow to nearly $180 billion by 2032—must correct a glaring, unmistakable, and long-standing branding issue. There is no such thing as a "soft skill." Long mislabeled as "soft," these skills are, in reality, the bedrock of effective leadership. It's high time we abandon the outdated and derogatory term "soft skills" and embrace their true essence: professional skills . Dispelling the Myth: Soft Skills Are Not Soft As a long-recovering Chief Learning Officer (CLO), I continue to feel that interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence remain mislabeled as "soft skills." However, this designation fails to reflect the true significance of these skills accurately and upholds the fallacious idea that they are less important than hard skills. Professional skills are more important than ever in today's business world, which is … [Read more...] about It’s About Time We Abandoned The Term’ Soft Skills’
