Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Key News Asian equity markets were mixed overnight on light volumes as investors worried about financial contagion. Hong Kong had a volatile day as Jack Ma’s visit to China lifted Alibaba and the market, a rally that ran out of out of steam in the afternoon. Baidu fell -3.17% due to rumors of a delay in its ERNIE chat bot launch. Meituan fell -6.28% and was today’s most heavily traded in Hong Kong by value after the company’s Q4 financial results, which were announced after the close on Friday, beat estimates. The stock’s drop is likely driven by Tencent’s decision to deliver a cash spinoff of Meituan, rather than shares, which obviously requires selling Meituan shares in the open market. Healthcare was the only positive sector in both Hong Kong and Mainland China after CSPC Pharma’s mRNA Covid-19 vaccine was approved. Teriyaki Madness: Building A Japanese Restaurant Powerhouse Through Franchising
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Experts attribute that the fascination with Japanese food in the U.S. started in New York City back in 1964 when wrestler turned restaurateur Hiroake “Rocky” Aoki launched Benihana. Its hibachi steak was prepared right in front of guests on a grill at the table and created quite the stir. In fact, Benihana is still going strong with about 75 eateries in about 25 states. Since then, a slew of Japanese restaurant chains such as Jinya Ramen Bar and Kura Sushi, regaled for its serving sushi on its revolving conveyor belt, have flourished in the U.S. But the Japanese restaurant chain that has been most adept at expanding has been Teriyaki Madness, based in Denver, Co. It has grown due to the power of franchising since 129 of its 130 restaurants are franchised. For example, in 2022 it expanded by 29 locations; every one of which was franchised. Of those 130 locations, 126 of them are based in the U.S., spanning 26 states. … [Read more...] about Teriyaki Madness: Building A Japanese Restaurant Powerhouse Through Franchising
Financial Planning For A Divorce
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There are many financial planning considerations before, during, and after a divorce. A key part of the process from a financial standpoint is dividing the assets. Generally, couples split the value of their assets 50-50 (though not always). But that doesn't mean the actual assets are just split down the middle, and some assets are much more favorable from a tax perspective than others. Once the divorce is finalized, a crucial (but often overlooked) part of the process is updating estate documents and beneficiary designations. Here are some key considerations when financial planning for a divorce. Money and divorce This article solely focuses on some of the general financial planning aspects of divorce and is not personal legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. When getting a divorce, it's important to assemble your team of professionals. During the divorce, your attorney is the star quarterback. … [Read more...] about Financial Planning For A Divorce
The One State Bucking Nationwide Opioid Abuse Trends
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Data from the National Institute on Drug Abuse show that drug overdose deaths have increased significantly since 2019, and opioid-involved overdoses are a top reason why. Indeed, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes on its website that "nearly 75% of drug overdose deaths in 2020 involved an opioid." Opioids are substances such as Vicodin, OxyContin, and Percocet that are commonly prescribed by doctors to treat patients for moderate-to-severe pain relief, but research shows that about a third of patients misuse them, and a staggering three million Americans abuse them - often to the point of addiction or overdose. And while opioid abuse has been getting significantly worse across America year after year over the past decade, one state has been more successful than any other in bucking the nationwide trend. The efforts of public health officials and hospital workers in Michigan have been well … [Read more...] about The One State Bucking Nationwide Opioid Abuse Trends
Does Tapestry’s Stock Have More Room For Growth?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Note: Tapestry’s FY’22 ended on July 2, 2022. After a 42% growth over the last six months, at the current price of around $41 per share, we believe Tapestry (NYSE: TPR) , a luxury goods retailer of handbags, shoes, and accessories under the Coach, Kate Spade, and Stuart Weitzman brands - could see modest growth. TPR stock has increased from around $29 to $41 in the last six months, compared to an 8% rise in the S&P index. The company’s stock has bounced back as of late after the company reported impressive earning results during this period - despite the increase in transportation costs and higher inflationary pressures. Also, Coach has a more significant physical presence in China, which is expected to be the key beneficiary of China’s reopening. China’s luxury market is rapidly recovering from the pandemic with greater strength and resilience. It is expected to reach around $112 billion by 2025, or approximately … [Read more...] about Does Tapestry’s Stock Have More Room For Growth?

Advertising Research Group Wants To Replace TV Households
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Advertising Research Foundation (ARF) recently called for a “gradual migration” away from the long-held term “TV households” to “TV-accessible households” (TVA), as the source of television measurement. The ARF cites the continued migration in viewing driven by broadband and mobile devices. The suggestion comes after the ARF conducted an extensive enumeration survey of 10,000+ adults age 18+ via its most recent Device and Account Sharing (DASH DASH ) survey. The DASH survey is a nationally projectable enumeration study of consumer behavior with TV and digital media. The survey data was collected online, face to face and by phone. In addition, 3,141 of the respondents were in previous year’s survey allowing to uncover any longitudinal changes using a unified sample. The evolution of DASH will be explored in a session entitled, “DASH: Building a New Standard in TV,” at an ARF AUDIENCExSCIENCE event on April 25. … [Read more...] about Advertising Research Group Wants To Replace TV Households
