‘K-12 promises never fulfilled’: Gatchalian backs review of program

June 22, 2022 by newsinfo.inquirer.net

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said he supports a review of the K to 12 education program, adding that its promises have “never been fulfilled.” “It’s about time talaga [to review it]. The promises of K-12 [have] never been fulfilled and one of the most important promises is for our senior high school to land a job after graduation,” Gatchalian, Gatchalian, who has all the odds in his favor to keep his Senate education committee chairmanship, told reporters in an interview on Wednesday. , told reporters in an interview on Wednesday. “I saw the numbers, majority of our senior high school cannot be employed for two reasons: the skills that we are teaching are not in line with what the industry needs and then number two: the industry finds our K to 12 graduates…not adequate on many fronts,” he added. The 12-year basic education system currently covers six years of elementary school, four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school. “Nung … [Read more...] about ‘K-12 promises never fulfilled’: Gatchalian backs review of program

Digital Health’s Burden Of Proof: Compelling ROI In A New Economic Reality

June 22, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Inflation is soaring, stagflation looks likely, and an economic recession seems imminent. “A mild downturn may be followed by a painfully prolonged recovery” is how The Economist describes the near-term economic climate, which stands to severely impact healthcare technology buying and selling patterns and decrease available capital for tech investments; it also places a greater emphasis on digital health sellers to be able to clearly demonstrate the ROI and value of their products. Demonstrating ROI Is No Easy Task – Nor Should It Be The good times have been really good for digital health sellers over the last decade, and increasingly so over the past few years. Even with recent pullbacks in 2022, digital health funding reached $6B in Q1 of this year (compared to $6.7B in Q1 of 2021), which is certainly nothing to sneeze at. But with economic uncertainty comes increasing capital constraints, which stands to … [Read more...] about Digital Health’s Burden Of Proof: Compelling ROI In A New Economic Reality

Western Balkan countries deserve realistic chance to join EU, Germany says

June 23, 2022 by www.thestar.com.my

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Western Balkan countries must have a realistic opportunity to join the European Union after working hard for many years to fulfill the conditions for entering the bloc, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in Brussels on Thursday. "The citizens in the Western Balkans have been waiting for almost 20 years for the opportunity to become members of the European Union," Scholz told reporters ahead of a meeting of EU and Western Balkans leaders. "It is of utmost importance that this becomes a credible promise because the many efforts that these countries have undertaken must in the end actually lead to their admission," he said, adding that Germany would work towards this goal. Najib’s close friend was middleman in RM2 mil cash payout to Guan Eng, court told

June 24, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (June 24): The Sessions Court was told on Friday that businessman Gnanaraja Gnanasundram — an alleged close friend of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak — was used as the “middleman” to make two cash payments amounting to RM2 million as kickback to former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. The star witness in Lim’s undersea tunnel project graft trial, Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd (ZCSB) director Datuk Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli testified that Lim told him to use an intermediary in making payments to avoid potential implications of being involved in the payments. “Lim once told me to use an intermediary if I wanted to give him money, because he did not want to involve me in the next payment as I might be monitored by the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission). “I suggested Gnanaraja because he was protected as he was known to be acquainted with the then Prime Minister (Najib). Lim also agreed,” he said. Zarul said he … [Read more...] about Najib’s close friend was middleman in RM2 mil cash payout to Guan Eng, court told

Mindset Matters: Transforming The Philosophy Of The Disability Economy For Present And Future (Part IV)

June 24, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Looking at the Disability Economy in its current incarnation, we can see it as a natural extension of the social and political advocacy movements for Disability Civil Rights that were critical in pushing for greater inclusion and active participation. Yet, it is important to understand that the Disability Economy both in the abstract and practical forms is fluid, and we must be able to ascertain not only what this means, but how to think about envisioning a future reality where disability is central to improving the human experience. Presently, as we further examine this new economic reality, we are finding key themes that are making their way to the forefront of the conversation. Ideas from accessibility, diversity, and inclusion to ESG investing are the basis for the present thinking of how business is redefining a new paradigm of disability. The maxim “Nothing About Us Without Us” is evolving into something beyond its … [Read more...] about Mindset Matters: Transforming The Philosophy Of The Disability Economy For Present And Future (Part IV)

June 23, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin No person in the United States shall, based on sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” - Title IX, signed by President Richard Nixon, June 23, 1972 Fifty years ago, Title IX was enacted to ensure gender equity, particularly in federally funded education and sports. Since Title IX there have been significant strides for women, including recent achievements like the overall college enrollment rate for 18- to 24-year-olds being higher for women than for men since 2000. The intentions of Title IX are noble and there should be no doubt that this law has made an indelible mark on generations of women and girls. At the same time, we must also reflect on whether Title IX is fulfilling its promise of protecting women from discrimination and underrepresentation in their educational and … [Read more...] about Title IX At 50: Are Women And Girls Being Treated Equally?

December 10, 2015 by newsinfo.inquirer.net

A woman takes a picture of a globe at the COP21, the United Nations Climate Change Conference Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 in Le Bourget, north of Paris. The Paris conference is the 21st time world governments are meeting to seek a joint solution to climate change. The talks are focused on reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, primarily by shifting from oil, coal and gas to cleaner sources of energy. AP LE BOURGET — Weary envoys from 195 nations battling to forge an accord to save mankind from disastrous global warming emerged Thursday from all-night talks facing an imminent deadline with deal-breaking rows still unresolved. More than two decades of bruising international diplomacy have failed to produce such a pact, which would require the world’s energy system to cut back on burning coal, oil and gas that releases planet-warming gases. The 195-nation UN talks in the French capital have been billed as the last chance to avert worst-case-scenario climate … [Read more...] about Crunch time after all-night climate talks in Paris

The Perfect Customer Experience Is Not What You Think

March 15, 2019 by www.inc.com

No product or brand can fulfill the needs and expectations of every person every time. Companies that try to please the masses usually underwhelm their true target audience and gain little in the exchange. Even if you manage to create an incredible experience in red, there will always be people who prefer blue. Great customer experience (CX) does not exist in a vacuum. To design an experience that keeps people coming back, focus less on wowing the crowd and more on creating a plan that consistently delivers satisfying results . The Truth About Perfect CX No single experience reigns supreme, but that doesn't mean companies should stop trying to up their CX game. Recent research found that 96 percent of B2B buyers base their decision on whether to buy again partly on the experience they receive. Even better, 83 percent of people who receive a good experience will refer you to a friend. Customer experience is obviously important. However, that … [Read more...] about The Perfect Customer Experience Is Not What You Think
