New York (CNN Business) United Airlines gave a $10 million deposit to a startup developing electric aircraft — all for the goal of shuttling customers to and from the airport by air rather than gridlocked roadways. It's not clear when or if the plan will come to fruition, as Archer, the company developing the electric air taxis, is still in the development phase. However, the company said Wednesday that's it's finishing the design of its production model. Archer estimates the first of its four-seater helicopters could be in operation by 2024. California-based Archer, which was founded in 2018, has raised nearly a billion dollars, according to analytics company Crunchbase . It refers to its aircraft as an eVTOL, or "electric vertical takeoff and landing" configuration. The company states they'll be able to travel up to 60 miles at up to 150 miles per hour. The aircraft is expected to lift off much like a helicopter, and it'll rotate its propellers from providing vertical to … [Read more...] about United Airlines puts $10 million behind plan to shuttle customers by electric aircraft

Deepak Talwar —Contributed photo Is it possible to take a slow-growth industry ravaged by natural disasters, urbanization and COVID-19 and transform it into a profitable, growing sector that creates value for business owners and customers alike? According to market research firm Statista, about a quarter of employed Filipinos work in agriculture, a sector which in 2020 contributed a significant 10.2 percent of the country’s gross domestic product. Given its importance to so many lives, as well as the economy as a whole, it is crucial to act now to ensure the sector’s long-term viability. 5 marketing concepts that need to be reexamined
ILLUSTRATIONBY RUTH MACAPAGAL There are fundamental concepts in marketing that remain relevant despite technology and changing consumer behaviors. This is important since what we know strongly influences what we do. Marketers (and entrepreneurs) need not wait for the consequences of a wrong action to influence new knowledge. Here is a list of five concepts marketers should look into to check if they have the right understanding of the business of marketing. 1. Needs and wants of the customers have to be identified First, most customers don’t even know what they actually need or want. They may know what they dislike but when it comes to new product design, it is still the domain of a company’s technical group, usually influenced by the company’s visionaries. For example, would the idea of an electronic blood pressure monitor come from hypertensive patients? Unlikely. The most they can do during the dominance of the manual blood pressure monitor era is to cite the pain points … [Read more...] about 5 marketing concepts that need to be reexamined

How Central Banks’ Intervention Can Stabilize the Forex Market?
Since the Forex market is dynamic and constantly evolving, liquidity providers are essential to its smooth operations. LPs give buyers and sellers quotations, which enables market participants to convert currencies with the least amount of hassle. Large banks or other financial organizations that offer the capital required to keep the market running are often liquidity providers in the Forex market. To keep the market liquid, these institutions frequently trade on their own account and quote both buying and selling prices for currencies. LPs are crucial in maintaining market stability since they are frequently the first to respond to changes in currency rates. The forex market is too big and intricate to be governed by one organization. Numerous LPs from all around the world offer quotations and execute trades on their own behalf. There is no centralized authority as a result, and prices remain steady. Because the FX market is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a … [Read more...] about How Central Banks’ Intervention Can Stabilize the Forex Market?

This has also created a dilemma for many retail formats anchored on street corners across America. How can they untether their shoppers from legacy shopping and manage the associated logistics of inventory management, fulfillment, returns and customer service? Decommoditize Your Enterprise With A CXO
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin John Evans / CEO of Evans & Evans Consulting . We live in a hyper-commoditized world. So, how can you get your enterprise noticed and remembered? And the holy grail: How do you catalyze positive stories being told about your enterprise? Here’s part of the answer. Find, and designate in earnest, a chief experience officer, or CXO: someone in charge of going beyond the business at hand. For example, I consult for a Fortune 500 home repair company. After a robust coaching session with a division of the firm, something exciting happened. The refrigerator repair man made a visit to a client and did his job. He fixed the fridge. But he also did something more. While doing the work, he heard—remember, a tremendous client experience is all about information—that the homeowner had recently broken her ankle playing tennis. After completing his job excellently, he then reported what he learned to the CXO of his unit. … [Read more...] about Decommoditize Your Enterprise With A CXO
