Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Well, so much for trusting people to do the right thing. A research letter recently published in JAMA Network Open described how 24.0% of parents in the U.S. surveyed—that’s 63 of 263 respondents—failed to tell others when they either thought or knew that their child had Covid-19. Moreover, 21.1% (67 of 218 respondents) permitted their children to break quarantine or isolation rules. And take a wild guess as to the most commonly given reason for not doing such things to protect others around them. It’s a very freedom answer. They wanted to exercise their “personal freedom” as parents. Yeah, let that freedom answer ring in the heads of all those who may have gotten infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) as a result. Looks like the answer to the Eurythmics song “Would I Lie To You?” is “Absolutely Yes” for quite a few parents based on this survey. The online survey conducted from … [Read more...] about Study: 24% Of Parents Hid That Their Children Were Covid-19 Positive

Murky water at Koh Samui beach caused by plankton bloom, not oil spill: officials
UPDATE The smelly, murky water putting off tourists from swimming in the sea at Maenam Beach in Koh Samui , southern Thailand , is not an oil spill but caused by a plankton bloom , which is a natural phenomenon, according to the Director of Koh Samui Harbour Authority, Arun Buppako. The photos circulating of green murky water at the beach show dead plankton floating on the surface of the water, said the director. Officials inspected the area and found no oil spills, he added. According to NaewNa , the director said… “Plankton blooms are a natural phenomena that happen every year. One main contributing factor is that when wastewater from the community is released into the sea, it acts as nutrients for plankton, causing them to multiply quickly. When the oxygen in the water depletes, the plankton dies, turning the seawater green. The ‘Diablo 4’ Beta Does Not Inspire Hope For A Smooth Launch
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Across two beta weekends now, I’ve been dealing with a good amount of technical frustration with Diablo 4, a game I otherwise very much like . While I know “it’s a beta,” and Blizzard has said outright that there will be long lines and disconnects as they try to gather data for a smooth launch…I am not convinced this is going to be a smooth launch. It’s less than three months away now, and I very much don’t believe that Blizzard will be able to keep up with the tidal wave of players who arrive at launch, and that we will endure a fairly long period of problems. I think the best case scenario right now is to avoid something utterly devastating like Diablo 3’s Error 37 launch, but I still don’t think it’s going to go great. What’s been happening? For large chunks of the weekends, particularly during peak times, login queues have been extraordinarily long, usually 30-60 minutes, but sometimes as long as two hours. But it’s … [Read more...] about The ‘Diablo 4’ Beta Does Not Inspire Hope For A Smooth Launch
