And that has fifth-ranked Duke celebrating yet another championship in its already-record haul. Williamson had 21 points to help the Blue Devils beat No. 12 Florida State 73-63 on Saturday night in the championship game, giving Duke its 21st tournament title while sending the Blue Devils charging into the NCAA Tournament. Williamson was named the tournament’s most valuable player, becoming only the sixth freshman to win the award and the first in a dozen years. RJ Barrett added 17 points and nine rebounds and the Blue Devils (29-5) took control after halftime, earning Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski his record 15th ACC Tournament championship. The Spartans (12-3) moved up six spots to No. 17 in the poll, thanks in part to last Wednesday’s 86-68 victory over then-No. 18 Minnesota. It sets up a big week for Michigan State, which travels to Ohio State on Monday night before playing host to No. 9 Maryland on Thursday. Central Michigan received votes in the poll, collecting 12 points. Notre Dame remained No. 1 in the poll after beating then-No. 2 Louisville last week. The Fighting Irish received 23 first-place votes from the 30-member national media panel. Louisville fell to fourth, swapping places with Baylor, which received six first-place votes. Nia Clouden scored 15 points, Jenna Allen had 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists and Shay Colley added 12 points for the No. 23 Spartans. Michigan State (12-3, 2-2 Big Ten), which ended a two-game skid, came in averaging 20.9 assists per game (fifth nationally) and finished with a season-high-tying 28. The Golden Gophers, who trailed by 10 in the first quarter, used a 9-0 run to pull within one early in the second but Michigan State scored 12 of the next 15 points and then closed the quarter on a 9-2 spurt — capped by Colley’s 3-point play — to take a 43-29 halftime lead.
