Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The wait is almost over. The House Of The Dragon premiere is slated to air on HBO and HBO Max this Sunday, August 21st at 9pm ET. The final, controversial episode of Game Of Thrones aired on May 19th, 2019 on HBO in a world that looks very different from the world we live in now. A year later, many of the world’s economies would grind to a halt as restaurants and schools and businesses shutdown in the face of an unprecedented global pandemic. Work on shows like House Of The Dragon, the prequel spinoff to Game Of Thrones, would grind to a halt or, at the very least, slow to a crawl. So what is House of the Dragon and why should fans—including disenchanted fans upset with how Game Of Thrones ended—be excited about this new show? Read on for everything you need to know about House of the Dragon and why I, for one, think everyone should be genuinely hyped for what’s to come. Why Norway euthanised a walrus that attracted crowds of spectators
(Image credit: @HughHarrop/Twitter) A walrus nicknamed Freya that attracted crowds while basking in the sun of the Oslo fjord was euthanised, Norway officials said on Sunday. "The decision to euthanise was taken on the basis of a global evaluation of the persistent threat to human security," the head of Norway's Fisheries Directorate Frank Bakke-Jensen said in a statement. "We carefully examined all the possible solutions. We concluded that we could not guarantee the well-being of the animal by any of the means available," he said. Officials had previously said they were considering euthanasia for the mammal because repeated appeals to the public to keep their distance from the young female weighing 600 kilograms (1,300 pounds) had been in vain. Freya, whose name is a reference to the Norse goddess of beauty and love, had made headlines since July 17 when she was first spotted in the waters of the Norwegian capital. Hextar Global, which bought the land in Klang in October 2005 for RM12.58 million, will lease back the assets after the sale. The company explains that the RM27 million sale is to unlock asset value and reduce its funding requirements. Nonetheless, Hextar Global’s asset sale is not that big a deal compared with that of its controlling shareholder Ong. The 44-year-old businessman is selling two industrial properties, namely warehouses and a factory, to KIP REIT for RM51.7 million cash. The New ‘R and D’–and Why No Company Can Do Without It
Traditionally, business leaders have been known to spend small fortunes on research and development (R&D) , attempting to create the next great "hero" product that will put them over the top. A large part of the process consists of costly trials and tests and time-consuming focus groups--all in the name of R&D. In some cases, the uber-expensive patent process can drain most of your budget on just trying to protect your intellectual property. It's a lot of time and energy put into an effort even before the product goes to market, especially since there is no guarantee of a return. Traditional R&D often can't be avoided, but wouldn't it make sense to invest similar resources in something that already generates sales? For instance, a well-designed retail display can be one of the most effective marketing tools in a company's arsenal--but the key is investing significantly in front-end design to effectively showcase the brand and engage with customers. In other … [Read more...] about The New ‘R and D’–and Why No Company Can Do Without It
What to Expect for the Markets in February
The January effect was in full effect for the first month of 2019. After a punishing December, stocks rebounded in the first few weeks of January as signs of progress in the U.S.-China trade war appeared, the Federal Reserve adopted a more dovish tone on interest rates, and earnings season revealed that some companies and sectors have more-positive outlooks than expected. It was a month to remember: The S&P 500, up 7.8%, had its best January performance since 1987, and its biggest monthly gain since October 2015. The DJIA rose 7.17% in January, its largest one-month rise since 2015 and biggest January gain in 30 years. Crude oil prices had their best month on record, surging more than 19% after three straight months of losses. Output cuts and the chaos in Venezuela, had a lot to do with that performance. The U.S. added 304,000 jobs in January, blowing out expectations despite the shutdown. While stocks have rebounded, notably for U.S. companies and indexes, risks … [Read more...] about What to Expect for the Markets in February
Thailand News Today | Thais more relaxed about Covid-19
A survey conducted by the Department of Health Service Support revealed that Thai people are a bit more relaxed about Covid, though still not as relaxed as many parts of the world. These results came from comparing the data from the first round of surveys conducted between March 5 to 31 with 113,847 respondents, and the latest round between July 1 to 20 with 28,487 respondents. The survey revealed that Thai people were about 4% more likely to engage in higher-risk activities than previously while there is an 11% decline in mask-wearing. The department believes the survey indicates Thai people are engaging in more physical contact due to relaxed social distancing and masking measures. Despite the latest findings, the Ministry of Public Health still encourages the general public to observe Covid safety protocol. Just over 771% of Thailand’s population has been fully vaccinated against coronavirus with two shots while about 45% have had at least one booster dose … [Read more...] about Thailand News Today | Thais more relaxed about Covid-19

REUTERS/Thomas Peter/File photo Engen Tham, Ziyi Tang SHANGHAI/BEIJING – China’s banking regulator is scrutinizing property sector loan portfolios of some local and foreign lenders to assess systemic risks, sources with knowledge of the matter said, as the real estate sector’s debt crisis worsens. As part of their assessment, the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) is looking at banks’ loan book exposure to developers to find out if those credit decisions were made according to the rules, one of the sources said. ‘Ms. Marvel’ Review-Bombed Into Being The MCU’s Lowest-Scoring Show On IMDB
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Ms. Marvel is currently not only the best-reviewed MCU series on Disney Plus, but at a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, that’s even above Black Panther’s 96% score, meaning it’s the best-reviewed MCU show or movie…ever, at the moment. That’s why it’s noticeable that Ms. Marvel is actually the lowest scored MCU series on IMDB based on its user star ratings. And yes, the answer is that it’s being review-bombed. “It’s not review-bombing if people just don’t like it,” some will say, but looking at the data, it’s impossible not to see what’s going on with Ms. Marvel as an outlier with malicious origins. Here are the scores across all MCU Disney Plus series: Loki – 8.2/10 WandaVision - 7.9/10 Hawkeye – 7.6/10 Moon Knighit – 7.4/10 What If…? – 7.4/10 Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 7.2/10 Ms. Marvel – 6.6/10 Again, a clear downward outlier, despite so much acclaim elsewhere. And digging … [Read more...] about ‘Ms. Marvel’ Review-Bombed Into Being The MCU’s Lowest-Scoring Show On IMDB
