‘Stranger Things’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show

June 25, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This post was republished on 6/25. Well, it finally happened, and it took another juggernaut to knock Stranger Things season 4 off the #1 spot on Netflix’s top 10 list after nearly a month planted there. That would be season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, Netflix’s hyper-successful non-Marvel or DC superhero series about an odd band of brothers and sister dealing with time travel paradoxes upon their return. Stranger Things season 4 almost lasted in the #1 spot until July 1, which is when part 2 of the season airs with the final two episodes, which will no doubt propel it to #1 yet again for a period of time. Right now, the show is slowly inching toward Squid Game’s viewership record, but it will need those final two episodes to perform even better than the previous seven if it hopes to catch it. Regardless, Stranger Things season 4 has set all manner of English-language records for the service, and even if … [Read more...] about ‘Stranger Things’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show

Dish Network’s new ad campaign wants to hear customers’ comments, complaints

February 6, 2017 by www.denverpost.com

Dish Network admits it. TV service providers — itself included — have plenty of room to improve their customer service reputation. On Monday, the Douglas County company begins a customer listening campaign, which includes a “spokeslistener” who stars in TV commercials and an advertising campaign. The company will also roll out a new feature on its web pages to gather comments and complaints from customers. “We’re in an industry that’s not known for listening to customers. But the easiest way to find out what customers want is to listen to them,” chief marketing officer Jay Roth said. “We have a saying here that the most powerful tool we have is our ears.” While gimmicky, Dish says this is a way to point out what the satellite TV company has been working on and try to win back customers and attract new ones. Many cable and satellite TV services are struggling to stop the subscriber shrinkage. But it could be a long battle. Cable and satellite TV companies continue to have … [Read more...] about Dish Network’s new ad campaign wants to hear customers’ comments, complaints

Chiang Rai police allegedly took huge bribe from Chinese porn gang

June 26, 2022 by thethaiger.com

Another day, another story involving Thai police taking bribes, this time in Chiang Rai. According to deputy police commissioner Surachate Hakpan, a.k.a ‘Big Joke’, 4 officers in the northern province took a 1 million baht bribe from a Chinese gang filming live pornography at 2 resorts. One of the officers had allegedly searched the gang’s filming spot March 31. He reportedly found recording equipment, phones, condoms and sex toys. But the officer didn’t go after the gangsters- instead, he immediately announced that he hadn’t found anything. No charges were pressed. But later, it was discovered that a fixer who arranged locations for the gang had gone to the bank to withdraw 800,000 baht. On April 1 and April 4, the fixer, Anusorn, gave the money to the 4 rogue officers. In return, they gave back the equipment they had seized. Shortly after the dirty little exchange, the gang continued filming their ‘projects’, moving their work to a different resort. Meanwhile, Anusorn … [Read more...] about Chiang Rai police allegedly took huge bribe from Chinese porn gang

Bangkok Chinatown fire kills 1, terrified shoppers run for their lives

June 26, 2022 by thethaiger.com

A fire in Bangkok’s Chinatown has killed a person today. The blaze broke out in the historic Sampeng market in Samphanthawong district, located beside the Chao Phraya River. Details on the victim’s identity haven’t been released yet. Terrified shoppers ran for their lives as the blaze gutted 4-5 houses, before firefighters arrived on the scene to put out the flames. Some rescue volunteers choked on smoke, and were rushed to Klang Hospital. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt was reportedly on his way to inspect the scene. The fire is believed to have been caused by a transformer exploding at a 3 storey shophouse, according to Thai media outlet JS 100 Radio. It is believed the flames then spread to cars parked in front of it. The market has a rich history, as Chinese immigrants settled there in 1782, the year Bangkok became Thailand’s capital. This news comes after a fire gutted about 30 houses in the city’s Pathumwan district last week. Locals whose homes were burned to … [Read more...] about Bangkok Chinatown fire kills 1, terrified shoppers run for their lives

EchoStar cuts 100 employees, another 1,800 moving to Dish Network

February 28, 2017 by www.denverpost.com

Fallout from a strategic decision between Dish Network and EchoStar Corp. to trade a few assets is hitting home for many EchoStar employees. Make that former EchoStar employees. The two Douglas County-based companies are swapping certain business units that would give Dish most of the video side of EchoStar, including the rest of online video service Sling TV plus the set-top box business that includes the ground-breaking Slingbox. The trade, announced Jan. 31, will also result in “fewer than 100” EchoStar employees losing their jobs, plus a reported end to manufacturing of Slingbox. Another 1,800 EchoStar employees will move to Dish following the trade, which was completed Tuesday. “EchoStar implemented a small reduction in force in late January, in response to recent changes in the marketplace,” said Michael T. Dugan, CEO and president of EchoStar Corporation, in a statement e-mailed to The Denver Post on Tuesday. “This reduction in force has impacted fewer than 100 of … [Read more...] about EchoStar cuts 100 employees, another 1,800 moving to Dish Network
