He did so while averaging 12.5 yards per return through 29 chances, including a game-winning touchdown from 84 yards away in the closing seconds against the New York Jets in November. AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors followed. In all, so did a handful of punts taken back for 20-plus yards. Mental Health: England Launches Review Into Safety Of Services
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Ministers have announced a review into England’s mental health services following a series of scandals in inpatient care. In September, a BBC Panorama documentary exposed abuse at an inpatient facility in Prestwich, Manchester. Staff were filmed bullying patients, using unnecessary restraint and keeping patients in seclusion for inappropriately long periods of time. Then in November, a report into the deaths of three teenage girls found ‘systemic failings’ in the care they received from a mental health trust in North Yorkshire, Northern England, according to the Health Service Journal . Health minister Maria Caulfield on Monday told ministers that the rapid review would “focus on what data and evidence is currently available to healthcare services, including information provided by patients and families, and how we can use this data and evidence more effectively to identify patient safety risks and failures in … [Read more...] about Mental Health: England Launches Review Into Safety Of Services
New England Teacher Turned Entrepreneur Sells A Healthier Protein Powder
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Jack Schrupp started a whole foods-based protein powder company from his kitchen, somewhat by accident. This year, he’s on track to have $2 million in sales. A teacher, with an affinity for athletics, particularly skiing, Schrupp had always been interested in his diet and health. Yet when he started reading the ingredient lists on protein powders, he was disappointed to see that they were made with preservatives, stabilizers, and inexpensive ingredients that were not healthy for this gut. “I don't have any chronic gut issues, but when I would have a protein shake, I just didn’t feel good afterwards. I tried both vegan and non-vegan options…and still got stomach aches or felt really bloated,” he says from his New England home. So he started making his own experimental batches in his kitchen. “I’ll admit, they didn’t taste the best at first, but they worked, and it was a few simple ingredients that I had literally … [Read more...] about New England Teacher Turned Entrepreneur Sells A Healthier Protein Powder

England’s Hospitals Under ‘Relentless Pressure’ As E.R. Woes Continue
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin England’s hospitals continue to endure “relentless” pressure on their accident and emergency services, data from England’s National Health Service shows. The latest NHS England “ situation report ” shows that ambulances took more than 77,000 people to emergency departments last week: an increase of roughly 5,000 on the week before. Bed occupancy remains stubbornly high, with more than 95% of general and acute hospital beds filled. Staff absence has fallen, however, as has the number of patients in hospital with flu. Despite ongoing pressure, NHS providers also saw a fall in delays handing over patients from ambulances to emergency departments this week: a key marker of patient flow through hospitals. Lengthy ambulance delays have become commonplace in England as hospitals have struggled to free up space for new patients in hospitals. This winter has seen particularly poor ambulance handover performance, with … [Read more...] about England’s Hospitals Under ‘Relentless Pressure’ As E.R. Woes Continue

U.K. Government’s Net Zero Review Claims Car-Shaped Electric Cars Reduce Congestion
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Electric cars are heavier than gasoline-fuelled cars but tend to have roughly similar dimensions and, when driven at over 15 mph, are just as loud. It’s odd, then, for a U.K. government commissioned report to claim that electric cars “can reduce noise and congestion.” The claim was made today in the otherwise factually-based Mission Zero report , a net zero review authored by Chris Skidmore MP, the former energy minister who was responsible for signing the U.K.’s net zero commitment into law in June 2019 . The 340 page report, released January 13, makes 129 recommendations covering areas including the greater role that business can be supported to play, making better use of infrastructure and delivering more energy efficient homes. “We should be proud of the lead the U.K. has taken in tackling climate change, having exceeded expectations so far in our race to net zero emissions by 2050,” said Skidmore, the … [Read more...] about U.K. Government’s Net Zero Review Claims Car-Shaped Electric Cars Reduce Congestion
