Elon Musk Announces Ad Revenue Sharing For Creators On Twitter

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Twitter will begin to share ad revenue with users, according to a tweet from CEO Elon Musk on Friday morning . Creators will get paid for ads that appear in their threads, though it’s not clear yet what kind of percentage will be handed out. The new revenue sharing program only applies to users who have subscribed to the platform’s $8 per month subscription service, Twitter Blue, according to Musk. And any users who got their blue checkmark before Musk’s takeover will not be eligible. “Twitter’s legacy Blue Verified is unfortunately deeply corrupted, so will sunset in a few months,” Musk tweeted in response to questions . Details haven’t been released about the new program, but Musk tweeted that it will start today. And you can bet plenty of creators are anxious to learn what kind of cut they’ll make. YouTube gives creators a 55% cut on revenue, while TikTok splits revenue 50/50 with its creators. YouTube … [Read more...] about Elon Musk Announces Ad Revenue Sharing For Creators On Twitter

Elon Musk Found Not Liable In Trial Over Tesla Privatization Tweet

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Tesla CEO Elon Musk was found not liable Friday of defrauding a group of Tesla investors who claimed to lose billions of dollars as a result of a 2018 tweet that suggested he was taking Tesla private, according to multiple reports , following a high-profile trial where Musk took the stand to defend himself. Key Facts The August 7, 2018 tweet that prompted the lawsuit said: “Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.” The investors argued Musk’s tweet was insincere and resulted in them losing money since Tesla’s stock quickly rose following the tweet before dropping when it became clear the company was not becoming private. Musk testified last month he thought he was “doing the right thing” by sending the tweet, claiming he wanted to alert all investors that he believed a buyout deal from the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund was certain, even though no agreement had been … [Read more...] about Elon Musk Found Not Liable In Trial Over Tesla Privatization Tweet

Elon Musk Will Share Revenue With Twitter ‘Creators,’ If They Pay Him

February 4, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There is one idea that Elon Musk has for Twitter that on the surface, actually sounds pretty good. He subscribes to the notion that Twitter users are “creators” for the site, and like places like Twitch and YouTube, the company should share some portion of the revenue they’re helping to generate. Of course, in practice, the implementation of how he says he’s going to do this sounds…terrible. Yesterday, Elon Musk announced that “starting today,” creators would be able to share in the revenue generated from the newly-inserted ads in reply threads. By the end of the day, there was no indication that program had actually gone live, and there were no further details about what kind of revenue split there would and who was eligible, other than one point of clarity: This would only apply to Twitter Blue members. So, in effect, what Elon Musk is saying is that if you pay him $8-11 a month for Blue, or at minimum … [Read more...] about Elon Musk Will Share Revenue With Twitter ‘Creators,’ If They Pay Him

Salwan Georges/The Washington Post via Getty Images Elon Musk wowed millions of people who watched the livestream of a flawless first launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket , which carried a Tesla roadster into space, capped by the elegant, simultaneous landing of two boosters. Musk’s euphoria was undiminished as he shifted gears on Wednesday to Tesla, pointing to a silver lining for the high-flying carmaker that capped a year of big losses and production headaches for its critical Model 3 sedan. The company reported a whopping $675.4 million net loss for the final quarter of 2017 and a $1.96 billion deficit for the year, the most ever on both counts. Loss per share was $4.01 on a GAAP basis, or $3.04 per share excluding some items. That was better than consensus estimates for adjusted EPS losses of $3.10 to $3.19, and … [Read more...] about Tesla’s $675 Million Loss Pulls Elon Musk Back To Earth After Stellar SpaceX Launch

Sy-backed Data Lake Inc. and SpaceX’s Starlink—owned by tech mogul Elon Musk—are set to offer satellite-based internet services in the country by the first quarter after facing delays. In a statement on Friday, the local data company owned by businessmen Henry Sy Jr. and Anthony Almeda said they had met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to tackle the expedited entry of the SpaceX unit as an internet service provider (ISP) in the country. “We are excited to finally introduce Starlink to the Philippine market by first quarter of 2023. Is ChatGPT Partisan? Poems About Trump And Biden Raise Questions About The AI Bot’s Bias—Here’s What Experts Think

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline After refusing to write a poem about Trump’s positive attributes—then proceeding to write one about Biden’s—accusations about ChatGPT’s possible political bias went viral, but not all experts agree on how serious the problem may be for OpenAI. Key Facts On Wednesday, a Twitter user posted screenshots of him asking OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, to write a positive poem about former President Donald Trump, to which the chatbot declined, citing it’s not programmed to create “partisan, biased or political” content. When fed the same prompt about President Joe Biden, ChatGPT spit out a multiple stanza poem painting Biden in a positive light, calling him a “leader with a heart so true,”— and prompted a fiery discussion about whether the chatbot is biased and if its responses for other prompts can be trusted. Some users shared screenshots of successful attempts at getting ChatGPT to write a positive poem … [Read more...] about Is ChatGPT Partisan? Timeline February 2 Okta CEO Todd McKinnon unveiled plans to reduce the tech company’s workforce by 5% (roughly 300 positions) in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Thursday, citing a period of over-hiring over the past several years that did not account for the “macroeconomic reality we’re in today.” February 1 NetApp , a San Jose, California-based cloud data company, announced plans in an SEC filing to lay off 8% of its staff ( estimated to affect 960 employees) by the end of the fourth fiscal quarter of 2023 “in light of the macroeconomic challenges and reduced spending environment.” … [Read more...] about 2023 Layoffs: Okta Slashes 300 Jobs As DraftKings, FedEx Cut Staff
