The language model, called GPT-2 (a successor to GPT), was trained to predict the next words in 40GB of Internet text. Compared to the GPT model, the GPT-2 has more than 10X the parameters and trained to handle the same amount of data compared to its predecessor.According to a blog post from OpenAI posted on Feb. 14, the company has trained a large-scale unsupervised language model which generates coherent paragraphs of text."It achieves state-of-the-art performance on many language modeling benchmarks, and performs rudimentary … [Read more...] about Elon Musk-Backed AI Software Could Be Used To Spread Fake News

Jan 02, 1:36 AM EST Newsletter Signup BusinessTechnologyWorldNationalMedia & CultureOpinionSportsLuxury Technology By Jim Gomez 01/02/19 AT 12:34 AM Billionaire and tech mogul Elon Musk believes that the first settlers on Mars won’t be humans. The exploration of Mars has been on the books of space agencies and private companies for a long while now. But only probes and rovers have been sent on missions to learn more about the Red Planet so far.So, when the Tesla CEO was asked on Twitter about his thoughts on artificial intelligence being the first Martian, Musk replied with a simple “30 [percent].”Whether the percentage is a conjecture or a calculated answer remains uncertain. But it does show Musk’s belief — and worry — that AI is quickly advancing.Sending humans to Mars for exploration has always been marred with logistical and health concerns: from travel time and fuel usage to the hazardous Martian … [Read more...] about Tesla CEO Elon Musk Thinks First Mars Resident Could Be Artificial Intelligence

And it was extremely difficult to solve them.” By June, Tesla hit a key production milestone, with 5,000 Model 3 sedans manufactured in a week. In October, Tesla posted its first profitable quarter in two years. But Musk said he wouldn’t recommend anyone work as much as he does — which at one point meant seven days a week, and … [Read more...] about Elon Musk reflects on Mars, brain chips and Tesla’s near-death experience

Elon Musk talked to Axios about his neuroscience and AI company Neuralink, which he hopes will achieve “symbiosis” between AI technology and humans. He warned that if not handled properly, AI could endanger the human race in the same way humans have driven down the numbers of other primate species, such as mountain gorillas. Musk has made similarly alarming claims about AI in the past, but not all tech leaders share his fears. Elon Musk told “Axios on HBO” about his AI company Neuralink, and its efforts to develop technology that creates a symbiosis between humans and AI to try and curb the possibility of an existential threat to humanity. Neuralink is Musk’s neuroscience company, which is trying to develop an interface for AI technology with the human brain. He describes it as “electrode to neuron interface at a micro level,” or in layman’s terms “a chip and a bunch of tiny wires” that goes in your brain. Musk said the … [Read more...] about Elon Musk believes AI could turn humans into an endangered species like the mountain gorilla
