August 7, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé first traveled to Marrakesh in 1966 and were met by an entire week of rain. But the day the sun came out, the couple fell head over heels in love with the city, immediately bought a house there and returned regularly over the years with their friends. Morocco became their home away from home and a creative sanctuary for Saint Laurent, the country where he would sketch designs for his upcoming collections before bringing them back to his studio in Paris. Stephan Janson , French fashion designer and friend of Saint Laurent and Bergé, speaks about how Marrakesh opened the trailblazing 20 th -century couturier’s eyes to color and the “Love” exhibition running until October 30, 2022, which he co-curated at Palácio Duques de Cadaval in Évora, Portugal, alongside Mouna Mekouar and Alexandra de Cadaval. You personally knew Yves Saint Laurent. What was the purpose of his first … [Read more...] about Find Out How Morocco Influenced Yves Saint Laurent In An Exhibition In Portugal This Summer

Why Regulation Will Help The Buy Now, Pay Later Giants

July 12, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After a meteoric rise during the pandemic, the buy now, pay later (BNPL) business is facing a future clouded by deteriorating economic conditions, competition from the likes of Apple and bank credit card issuers and a looming regulatory crackdown. At least, that’s the conventional wisdom. Since the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) opened an inquiry into the industry last year, regulation has generally been framed as a “ backlash ” and threat to the industry’s growth. A research note issued Sunday by Goldman Sachs analyst Michael Ng, which initiates coverage of Affirm Holdings with a neutral rating, observes that “the evolving US BNPL regulatory landscape results in the risk of potential regulation that could reduce the pace of consumer and merchant adoption.” Yet a deeper look suggests regulation could actually benefit the leaders in the American BNPL sector. While BNPL has been around in the US … [Read more...] about Why Regulation Will Help The Buy Now, Pay Later Giants

Recently, I came across an article about Kayla Sanchez, a 21-year-old Olympic swimmer of Filipino descent who decided to uproot herself from Canada to become part of Team Pilipinas. My one immediate thought was how fortunate she is to have parents who must have instilled the importance of “love of country.” She got me thinking that a large part of who we are is a reflection of how we were raised, and how we turn out to be is a personal choice. Growing up, I never could fully understand why my late father would ensure that on June 12 of each year, without fail, the Philippine flag finds a home in our garden and our car’s antenna, or how he would make it a point to purchase local goods on out-of-town family trips even when these were more than slightly overpriced. Vivid memories of him waving the flag while cheering Eric Buhain on from the Rizal Grandstand, of him paying a surprise visit to my niece in high school just to wish her class a Happy Independence Day, and of him encouraging … [Read more...] about Our umbilical core
