The paper wristbands were distributed at the courthouse as a crowd control measure that was attended by fans of the actors, particularly of Depp. The bands aren’t of course special. They are colour-coded paper wristbands and just stamped with the date of entry. Yet the memorabilia from the spectacle of a trial is being put up for big buck on sites like eBay. “This is a piece of celebrity culture history,” wrote one seller, who started the bidding for his blue trial day 20 wristband at $4,999 (£3,998). He went on to describe the condition of the wristband in detail: “The wristband has been cut so I could remove it from my wrist, you cannot reattach it without using glue or tape; but I figure this would be better … [Read more...] about Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial court wristbands on sale online for $5,000

Labor strikes have doubled in the past year. Is high inflation part of the reason?

June 23, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

High inflation and worries about economic contraction are stunting the markets but proving to be catalysts for growth in one area: an interest in striking and unionizing. advertisement advertisement The number of strikes between January and May 2022 is double that of last year, according to data from the Cornell-ILR Labor Action Tracker , a database that tracks labor protest activity across the U.S. During that time frame, there were 153 strikes around the country comprising 73,500 workers, compared to 78 strikes involving 22,500 workers between the same months in 2021, according to Johnnie Kallas, a former labor organizer and the director of the ILR Labor Action Tracker. The increase in strike activity appears to be moving in lockstep with a sudden push in unionization among American workers, too. Living On Bitcoin For A Week: Birthday Bittycoins

May 5, 2013 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin 79 Bittycoins worth of party goods Day 5. On Saturday morning, I get to start the day with breakfast and coffee for the first time this week, thanks to the bottle of “Stumptown cold brew” and “organic Superfood oat-based cereal” that I bought the day before at an artisanal grocery store that now accepts Bitcoin. Even though my boyfriend says my oat-based cereal “looks like puke” after I add water to it per the directions, it is glorious to be able to have a morning meal. It’s also glorious that Bitcoin’s value is back on the rise; it went from a $96 USD valuation Friday night to $114. At 11 a.m., I meet Jeff Anderson at a coffee place around the corner from my home (that I must vacate on Sunday due to my landlord not accepting Bitcoin as rent). Anderson, 30, started Blue Plate Wines in 2010 along with two friends. They are the first winemakers to accept BTC for their product.
