Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — The Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention sent a directive to the local committees for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue of coastal provinces and cities on a tropical depression in the South China Sea (called East Sea by Việt Nam) on Thursday. The depression is forecasted to hit provinces from northern Quảng Ninh to central Khánh Hòa. To actively respond to the tropical depression, the steering committees have been asked to inform owners and captains of fishing vessels on the sea about the location and direction of the depression. At 1 am, the centre of the tropical depression was positioned at 21.4 degrees north and 117.8 degrees east in the north-eastern waters of the East Sea. Forecasters said strongest winds near the centre of the tropical low pressure were estimated at 40-60km per hour. Over the next 24 hours, the system is expected to move north-east at a speed of 5km per hour. At 1am on June 15, its centre will be situated at 22.5 degrees north latitude and 119.2 degrees east longitude with strongest winds reaching up to 40-60km per hour. East Sea situation discussed at Ocean dialogue in Hanoi
