Drones are specialized now, with models for kids, beginners, flying enthusiasts, racers (yes, there are racing drones), photography and video. No matter what kind of drone you want, these days the best drones are easy to fly, include more versatile cameras and have better collision avoidance features than ever before. Some even work with VR (virtual reality) to provide an immersive first-person flying experience. An RTF (Ready to Fly) drone comes with everything you need to take to the skies right out of the box, and can work well for both drone racing and FPV (First Person View) drone flights. It’s essential to choose the drone that matches your skill level and what you want to use it for—especially when high-end drones can easily run a few thousand dollars. What Next Big Technology Will Impact Our World As Much As The iPhone?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Over the last several centuries technology has dramatically impacted the world and people's lives. You can trace these technological breakthroughs back to the wheel, Gutenberg Press , then to the steam engines, locomotion, the cotton gin, the telephone, Edison's light bulbs, and even the first automobiles introduced in the late 1800s. I saw a stat recently that from the first flight of the Wright Brothers and the birth of aviation to landing on the moon were just about 60 years apart. Film, radio, and television technology has expanded our world, and with the Internet, that world has become simultaneously more broad and more intimate. Radar and satellites brought pinpoint navigation to all sorts of applications that have changed our world for the better. And of course, the introduction of big iron computing in the late 40s and 50s to personal computers in 1972 and then commercialized by Apple in 1977 birthed the age of … [Read more...] about What Next Big Technology Will Impact Our World As Much As The iPhone?

Forget SFFD Being Upset At Cruise, The Future For Emergency Vehicles With Robocars & e-VTOL Is Super Positive
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Recently I reported on the San Francisco Fire dept. being upset at how a Cruise robotaxi coming the other direction couldn’t clear out of that lane when the fire engine was blocked by a stopped garbage truck. Discussion suggest there was concern over whether cars like the Cruise were ready for driving on a road with emergency vehicles. While there may be some small issues to resolve, emergency crews should take heart. A future is possible where they will be able to respond to emergencies far better than they can today, thanks to robocars and other future technologies like e-VTOL aircraft. Robotaxi developers build simulations of situations on the road, including encountering emergency vehicles. They do thousands of variations of those situations to try to make sure their car will do well. When it doesn’t, they fix it. They may not get everything, but they will constantly improve as they learn — and one of the ways they … [Read more...] about Forget SFFD Being Upset At Cruise, The Future For Emergency Vehicles With Robocars & e-VTOL Is Super Positive
Digital Health’s Burden Of Proof: Compelling ROI In A New Economic Reality
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Inflation is soaring, stagflation looks likely, and an economic recession seems imminent. “A mild downturn may be followed by a painfully prolonged recovery” is how The Economist describes the near-term economic climate, which stands to severely impact healthcare technology buying and selling patterns and decrease available capital for tech investments; it also places a greater emphasis on digital health sellers to be able to clearly demonstrate the ROI and value of their products. Demonstrating ROI Is No Easy Task – Nor Should It Be The good times have been really good for digital health sellers over the last decade, and increasingly so over the past few years. Even with recent pullbacks in 2022, digital health funding reached $6B in Q1 of this year (compared to $6.7B in Q1 of 2021), which is certainly nothing to sneeze at. But with economic uncertainty comes increasing capital constraints, which stands to … [Read more...] about Digital Health’s Burden Of Proof: Compelling ROI In A New Economic Reality

What’s Causing Flight Delays And Cancellations?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Travelers are returning to the skies in 2022 for domestic and international flights. This summer will be the busiest travel season since the Covid-19 pandemic began. However, many flights are being canceled or delayed. What is the root cause? Here are a few factors you should know about if you plan to travel. Pilot Shortages Are The Primary Reason Many delays and cancellations are because of an industry-wide pilot shortage. In addition, the legacy carriers and regional operators don’t have enough staff for various reasons. As a result, airlines are combining routes or discontinuing services when necessary to offset staffing shortages. This move is similar to the height of the pandemic when carriers reduced to minimal service as travel demand plummeted. However, consolidating flights to conserve pilots and reduce operating expenses isn’t as simple as waving a magic wand. Pilots can only fly planes they are … [Read more...] about What’s Causing Flight Delays And Cancellations?
