An investigation has been launched to discover why the female director of a school in the central province of Kanchanaburi allegedly asked an 11 year old schoolgirl to keep quiet over her rape ordeal. The 11 year old girl was raped by a 12 year old boy in the classroom at a school in the Wichian Buri district on Tuesday, June 21. The victim ran to the school director for help but she told the girl to keep the attack a secret, and allegedly said, “You won’t get pregnant.” The school director added that the incident would spoil the reputation of the director and the school. Understandably, the family of the victim, parents and locals, are furious with the school director for trying to cover up the sexual assault. The victim’s aunty discovered the truth while overhearing the girl retell the story to her cousin at home on Friday, June 24. It was later discovered that the boy has previous form for sexual assault and 5 other students in the school have come forward saying he has … [Read more...] about School director fired after allegedly covering up rape of 11 year old girl

A 250 million-year-old insect could inspire an ultrathin wallpaper that absorbs sound
About 65 million years ago, right around the time dinosaurs went extinct, bats evolved the ability to echolocate. They would produce clicks with their mouth or nose and listen for echoes of those clicks bouncing off surfaces and animals in the dark. Bats were major predators of moths, so many moths evolved ears that are sensitive to that echolocation—but not all of them. advertisement advertisement Some species, like furry silk moths, never grew ears. Instead, they used another defense mechanism that was already at their disposal: sound-absorbent wings. acoustic camouflage ” was discovered in 2018, when a team of researchers at the University of Bristol found that furry moths have a coating on their wings that can absorb up to 85% of the sound that hits them, making it hard for bats to locate them because their calls would be poorly reflected. Now a new study from the same team suggests that these moth wings could inspire a new type of ultrathin … [Read more...] about A 250 million-year-old insect could inspire an ultrathin wallpaper that absorbs sound

G7 leaders work to ‘starve’ Russia of oil money as Zelensky says he wants the war over by the end of the year
Telfs-Buchen, Austria (CNN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told G7 leaders during a virtual meeting Monday that he wants the war in Ukraine to end by the end of 2022, according to a source familiar with his remarks , as leaders worked to starve Russia of its oil revenues and mitigate the economic fallout of the conflict. The dual missions -- sustain support for Ukraine while easing economic pressures at home -- have defined this year's summit of leading democracies, held high in the Bavarian Alps. While largely united, the leaders are all facing their own political imperatives to see a momentum shift in the fighting and bring an end to the conflict quickly. To that end, leaders were nearing an agreement to try capping the price of Russian oil, depriving the country of revenues that have soared amid the global spike in energy prices. Details were still being ironed out, including whether the top buyers of Russian oil would agree to the limits, but US officials … [Read more...] about G7 leaders work to ‘starve’ Russia of oil money as Zelensky says he wants the war over by the end of the year
Wimbledon doesn’t care what looks cool says Kyrgios on strict dress code

(Photo by Carmen JASPERSEN / AFP) Nick Kyrgios would rather wear all black when competing at Wimbledon instead of adhering to the all-white dress code, with the Australian saying on Sunday that the Championships were out of tune with what looks ‘cool’ on court. The grasscourt major is famous for its strict dress code and does not even allow players to wear off-white or cream, while the measuring tape comes out to ensure the trim of color on necklines or sleeves is no wider than a centimeter. “I always want to wear all black, obviously,” Kyrgios said with a smile at a news conference ahead of his first round match with British wildcard Paul Jubb. “But I don’t think it’s something that’s going to change, I don’t know. “I think it would be cool to allow, like, a black … [Read more...] about Wimbledon doesn’t care what looks cool says Kyrgios on strict dress code
$20 Billion In Retail Rents Due: Why Collaboration Is The Only Way Forward
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin To say we are in uncharted territory is an understatement. We’ve been through Black Swan events before, but what seems different this time around is the high level of uncertainty that is still present several weeks into the pandemic in the U.S. (months globally). Normally at this juncture, we have a better understanding of what transpired and a clearer path forward. But for retail, the big question on everyone’s mind is, with as much as $20 billion in retail rents due , where do we go from here? I’ve been in this business for many years on both sides of the aisle and often tenants and landlords come to the negotiating table with differing viewpoints. But that mentality must be put aside for the industry to pull through this crisis. At the risk of waxing poetic – now, more than ever, is the time for landlords and retailers to come together if we are to have shopping centers and stores for quarantined-weary consumers to … [Read more...] about $20 Billion In Retail Rents Due: Why Collaboration Is The Only Way Forward

Genesis Launch North American Tour With Triumphant Opening Night In Chicago
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “Say we’ll be together ‘til the end,” sang Phil Collins Monday night in Chicago as English prog rockers Genesis launched their North American tour on stage at United Center. Amidst an arena concert landscape dominated by reunion tours - in a year where acts like the Rolling Stones are staging highly entertaining concerts even as each member approaches the age of 80 - most tours lack a tangible sense of finality. Another go at it almost always seems plausible. But this Genesis outing feels different, with even the tour’s title - “The Last Domino?” - seemingly hinting at the inevitable. Plagued by a litany of health issues, singer Phil Collins, 70, now sits for the majority of the group’s two hour plus performances, unable to play the drums as he did when Genesis last performed together in 2007. Nevertheless, Monday night in Chicago, the first of two sold out shows at United Center, found Collins in fine … [Read more...] about Genesis Launch North American Tour With Triumphant Opening Night In Chicago
