Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Dish Network stock has rallied by about 11% over the last five trading days and also remains up by about 6% over the last month (21 trading days). While the broader markets have rallied over the last month, there are a couple of factors that have likely helped Dish stock. Firstly, Dish’s Q2 2022 earnings were slightly better than expected although the company lost 257,000 pay-TV subscribers and about 210,000 wireless subscribers. Dish is also making progress toward launching its new nationwide wireless service, Boost Infinite, as it started accepting customer sign-ups last week, with a launch slated for Q4. This means that Dish should finally be able to better monetize its 5G network, which it has been building out for some time now. Moreover, investors have also been buying into beaten down value stocks and this has also likely helped Dish stock, which remains down by 41% year-to-date and currently trades at under 8x projected … [Read more...] about Is Dish Stock Poised To Gain After Its Earnings Beat?

Samsung lands first 5G equipment deal in India
Samsung Electronics inked a 5G network deal with India’s Bharti Airtel, also known as Airtel, its first 5G equipment deal in India. New Delhi-based Airtel said Wednesday it signed an agreement with Samsung Electronics, Sweden’s Ericsson and Finland’s Nokia for the 5G network. While Ericsson and Nokia have worked with Airtel previously, Samsung Electronics has not. The combined value of the deals is estimated at $2.5 billion, with Samsung Electronics claiming about 10 percent, according to a Thursday report in India's Economic Times. Airtel is the world’s fourth biggest telecom by number of users — 490 million subscribers worldwide — and the second largest in India following Reliance Jio. Samsung Electronics has been working with Reliance Jio since 2016 on its 4G LTE network. Airtel said it will start service on the 5G network in August. Samsung will sell radio units and other equipment for the company's 5G network deployment, as well as optimization and maintenance services. … [Read more...] about Samsung lands first 5G equipment deal in India
Setting Up Future-Ready India With 5G Roadmap: The Possibilities & Challenges
Let’s begin with a few numbers! According to Statista , cellular subscriptions in India leveraging 4G/LTE technology are predicted to reach 925 million in 2024 from their current volume of 800 million. Even though this adoption rate has fallen significantly compared to previous years, it’s because Indian network operators are preparing suitable infrastructures to roll out 5G subscriptions that are forecast to reach 487 million by the end of 2027. This clearly indicates how India has achieved its second rank globally in terms of mobile network connectivity with 1.19 billion active subscribers. However, as with any emerging technology, “5G” isn’t the marketing buzzword to tackle every major challenge in the contemporary cellular infrastructure. While smartphone manufacturers often use the term loosely, the implications of commercial 5G rollout have much more potential to position India as the world’s second-largest smartphone market by 2025. On the commercial front, 5G … [Read more...] about Setting Up Future-Ready India With 5G Roadmap: The Possibilities & Challenges
3 Stocks to Benefit From the 5G Spending Boom
Many telecommunications and technology companies have invested heavily in 5G , which stands for fifth-generation cellular wireless, in recent years. The new gold standard in wireless technology provides greater download speeds, lower latency and the ability for networks to connect more devices. Data analysts project 5G transfer speeds to be five to 10 times faster than 4G LTE , which opens the door for improved video streaming, more augmented and virtual reality applications, increased Internet of Things (IoT) innovation, and revolutionizing domains such as autonomous cars and smart cities. According to market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), 5G global infrastructure spending is set to grow from $528 million in 2018 to $26 billion in 2022 – a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 118%. In other news relating to 5G spending, reports surfaced late last week that President Trump met with Cabinet officials to revive a significant infrastructure plan and … [Read more...] about 3 Stocks to Benefit From the 5G Spending Boom

Zafrul: No extension after Aug 31 deadline for telcos to sign up with DNB for 5G — report - A + A KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15): Malaysia’s mobile network operators (MNOs) have until Aug 31 to agree on the terms related to the acquisition of shares in 5G network provider Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB), Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz was quoted by the Malay Mail as saying. In the report on Monday (Aug 15), the Malay Mail cited that the MNOs will have to agree to the terms by the new deadline or risk losing out on 5G access. The government previously set a June 30 deadline for the telcos to agree on the 70% stake purchase in DNB, a company owned by the Ministry of Finance, or the 5G spectrum will be opened up to international players. 5G spectrum auction ends with bids topping Rs 1.5 lakh crore; Reliance Jio leads bidders
(Representative image) The auction for 5G spectrum has concluded with the government cumulatively receiving bids of over Rs 1.5 lakh crore, Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. Out of the 72,098 MHz of total spectrum on offer, around 71 percent or 51,236 MHz has been sold in the auction held through 40 rounds of bidding over the past seven days, Vaishnaw said. The government has received a "total bid amount of Rs 1,50,173 crore", the minister noted. The spectrum allocation will be completed by August 10, Vaishnaw said, adding that the amount of spectrum purchased is "enough to cover the whole country with 5G". The successful auction of 5G spectrum is also a "healthy sign" for the country's telecom sector, he further said. Reliance Jio , the telecom arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), is the largest acquirer of 5G spectrum, with bids of over Rs 88,000 crore. Close Jio is the only bidder to have acquired 700 MHz in all 22 circles, Vaishnaw … [Read more...] about 5G spectrum auction ends with bids topping Rs 1.5 lakh crore; Reliance Jio leads bidders
5G Spectrum Auction | 700 Mhz, along with C-band, gives Reliance Jio an edge
Consumers in India will have access to world-class 5G services in the near future. (Representative image) The August 1 spectrum auction has been a highly-successful one, from the perspective of the government, the service providers, and, most importantly, from the telecom consumer’s perspective. The government was able to generate significant revenues in excess of Rs 1.5 trillion , service providers were able to acquire spectrum in line their internal budgets (and strategies), and for the most part without bidding too much higher than the reserve prices, all of which means that the consumer will have access to world-class 5G services in the near future, and that too at affordable rates. There was one particular outcome from this auction, related to Reliance Jio acquiring the 700 Mhz band, in addition to C-band (and other bands), which might have come as a little bit of a surprise to certain quarters — not to those who know and understand the logic and the business case … [Read more...] about 5G Spectrum Auction | 700 Mhz, along with C-band, gives Reliance Jio an edge
