Dr. Lloyd Zucker, a Florida-based brain surgeon, likens his job to flying a plane. When he goes into someone’s skull to operate, he has to navigate the nerve fibers, and like a pilot flying by buildings, he wants to avoid damage. To avoid a crash, Zucker uses brain scans as maps. To figure out the best pathway, he works with a radiologist to interpret the MRI, a process he likens to something like “flying blind”–not a very encouraging metaphor to hear from someone operating on people’s brains. “The scary thing is that if you look at the brain,” he said in an interview with a local Florida news station, “all the fibers that exist within the brain, we can’t see them. Huawei’s software woes have been laid bare for the world to see. With the Android license ban still in effect, the company doesn’t have access to Google’s mobile services, which has led to a dip in sales of Huawei and sub-brand Honor smartphones outside China.However, despite its software woes, Huawei doesn’t seem to be slowing down on the hardware front, particularly in camera performance. The Huawei Mate 30 Pro already tops DxOMark’s list for the best overall camera, and now another Huawei smartphone has recorded the best selfie score.The recently unveiled Huawei Nova 6 5Grecently attainted a selfie score of 100 points on DxOMark’s list of best performing selfie cameras. Sitting on my desk is a lovely note, written on thick, customized stationery with my name scrawled across the top. It’s in my handwriting, but I didn’t write it. The penmanship is cleaner, more methodical, a little too consistent. But even with those disparities, the words capture my essence. To anyone else, it looks like I took the time to hand write a thank-you note, when really a machine took words I typed and, like a prosthetic arm, moved a pen up and down the page to write just like I would.
