Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin FTSE 100 stocks Smurfit Kappa, DCC Group and Severn Trent all released fresh trading statements on Wednesday. Here are the key takeaways from their midweek updates. Smurfit Kappa Packaging supplier Smurfit Kappa grew revenues strongly in 2022 despite a fall in cardboard box demand. Revenues rose 27% last year to €12.8 billion even as box volumes dropped 2% year on year. Meanwhile, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 38% to €2.4 billion, helped by a jump in EBITDA margin to 18.4% from 16.8% in 2021. The solid performance encouraged the company to raise the full-year dividend 12% year on year, to 107.6 euro cents per share. Chief executive Tony Smurfit said that “the rate and pace of inflation clearly had a negative effect on the demand environment in 2022.” He added that “the partial reversal of the unsustainably high demand levels seen through the pandemic period” also … [Read more...] about FTSE 100 Round-Up: Smurfit Kappa, DCC, Severn Trent

New Apple Leak Reveals Drastic MacBook Pro Decisions
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Updated Feb 7th: article originally posted February 6th Apple’s recently launched MacBook Pro models may offer an increase in power over the previous generation , but nothing could be classed as ‘new’ in the package. I’d argue they are closer to being mid-cycle ’S’ upgrades rather than the next generation of professional macOS laptops. What could Apple be planning for that next generation? Update: Tuesday 7th February: One more area where the new MacBook Pro models will stand out will be in the next iteration of Apple Silicon. While the jump from the m1 family to the M2 family has offered around 20 percent increases across the board, both are using 5nm technologies. With the M3 family, Apple is expected to move to a 3nm process and join the rest of the competition, notably Samsung. Reports today have the South Korean company making a significant move by reducing orders of its older chip designs to … [Read more...] about New Apple Leak Reveals Drastic MacBook Pro Decisions
For Country Artist Tolman – Gratitude Is Everything
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Jenny Tolman spent the past year making many of her biggest dreams come true. She released a new album, got married, organized the first all-female country festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, saw her music video celebrating women who’ve survived drug addiction and human trafficking go viral, and welcomed her first child, a beautiful baby boy named Bear. It seemed fitting the little guy would wrap up 2022 so perfectly, arriving on the very last day of the year, December 31 st . Tolman let fans know he was on his way with her song “It’s a Boy,” late last year, and People Magazine helped introduce him to the world in January. At 26, Tolman feels incredibly blessed. “I feel very, very grateful. The only two things I’ve ever wanted in my life is to be a singer and to be a mom,” she says. “And I’m like, oh my gosh, it makes me want to cry.” She’s a strong believer in expressing gratitude - consistently and … [Read more...] about For Country Artist Tolman – Gratitude Is Everything
Milwaukee Bucks Final Trade Deadline Big Board
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The 2023 NBA Trade deadline is nearly upon us, and the Milwaukee Bucks will have some big decisions to make. They’ve won eight straight games heading into the deadline and are clicking on all cylinders with Khris Middleton back in the lineup. However, they are not yet at full strength as Bobby Portis has missed the last seven games with an MCL sprain in his right knee. They’ve gone the entire season without having their entire team, making it difficult for general manager Jon Horst to evaluate his club. Even without all of their guys, it’s clear the Bucks are peers with the Boston Celtics (and maybe the Philadelphia 76ers?) as the class of the Eastern Conference. Still, there’s always room to upgrade. Here are the top 16 trade candidates the Bucks could potentially be interested in. Milwaukee Bucks Final Trade Deadline Big Board Kelly Oubre Jr., Wing, Hornets Jae Crowder, Forward, Suns Immanuel … [Read more...] about Milwaukee Bucks Final Trade Deadline Big Board
The Kansas City Chiefs Are Beginning And Ending Season At State Farm Stadium
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 44-21 victory against the Arizona Cardinals in Week One, several of the Chiefs defensive backs sauntered back to the buses at State Farm Stadium. Before those buses whisked them off to the airport, their position coach, Dave Merritt, told them to remember the stadium. “We’re going to be back here,” Merritt said. “We mentioned it back then. Praise God — then it came true.” Indeed the Chiefs’ season has come full circle in blessed fashion. They will end it where they started it — at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., when they face the Philadelphia Eagles there on Sunday in Super Bowl LVII. In their impressive 14-3 campaign, the Chiefs’ win against the Cardinals on Sept. 11 represented their largest margin of victory. Patrick Mahomes, a spokesman for the insurance company with the naming rights to the stadium , threw for a season-high five touchdowns, and the Chiefs were … [Read more...] about The Kansas City Chiefs Are Beginning And Ending Season At State Farm Stadium
With $22.3 Million In Venture Capital, A Startup Is Transforming Maternity Care
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Oula's has raised $22.3 million in seed and Series A rounds to improve outcomes for pregnant and postpartum people. The U.S. has terrible maternity care outcomes. Women in the U.S. are 50% more likely to die in childbirth than their moms, writes Neel Shah, MD, MPP, FACOO in Harvard Health Blog. The risk to Black women is three to four times more than to white women. More than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable , according to the CDC, and including midwives can help , according to The Lancet. On Destiny 2’s Titan ‘Punch-Based’ Class Identity
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin On Tuesday, Bungie laid out detailed plans for Strand , its fifth subclass, including how it will be applied to all three subclasses, Warlocks, Hunters and Titans. Warlocks will command armies of little Strand aphids that follow them around and attack enemies. Hunters will have access to unparalleled mobility with constant grapples and aerial slams. Titans will have…green blade fists. This sparked a debate among the community about “class identity” something Bungie frequently references when they build new subclasses or re-do old ones like the light 3.0 reworks. And the problem that keeps coming up is that the class identity of Titans feels like it relies too much on the singular concept of “Titans like to punch things.” Designer Kevin Yanes reinforced this idea with a quote he gave to GamesRadar about pushback to Titans getting so many fist-based kits: “Titan mains, we love you. We do. But remember that … [Read more...] about On Destiny 2’s Titan ‘Punch-Based’ Class Identity
‘Wednesday’ Is Somehow Ascending Netflix’s Top 10 List 77 Days After Release
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin While Netflix has publicly said they want a new show as good and as popular as Wednesday every week, the longer time goes on, the less likely that seems. Wednesday is pretty much in a league of its own here. Checking the Netflix top 10 chart today, I couldn’t really believe my eyes when I didn’t just see Wednesday continuing to hang out in the top 10, but it’s now actually climbing the list again. It’s ascended into the top 5, and at #4, is just one spot away from the show that ruled all of the month of January on Netflix, Ginny and Georgia season 2. Keep in mind Wednesday is a show that released on November 23, 2022 , which is 77 days ago. To not just be on the top 10 list for nearly three months, but to now be climbing after three months either speaks very highly of it, or means that Netflix’s other offerings have been somewhat lacking since then. Right now, the current #1 show is New Amsterdam, a licensed … [Read more...] about ‘Wednesday’ Is Somehow Ascending Netflix’s Top 10 List 77 Days After Release
