It’s quite a success story. High Maintenance, the Vimeo web series that debuted in 2012 and became popular for its sometimes funny, sometimes weird, sometimes poignant—and always interesting—character studies of New Yorkers who buy their pot from a dealer simply known as The Guy, is now a full-fledged television series premiering on HBO tonight. advertisement advertisement Meeting with Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld, the married couple behind the series, in a conference room at HBO’s Manhattan headquarters, I ask if they ever imagined their web series transitioning to television when they first began making it a few years ago. Ride-hailing firm Uber has just pumped in Rs 1,767 crore, or around $250 million, in its Indian arm. This is the single largest investment by the San Francisco-headquartered company that has invested close to $2 billion in India since it entered the country in August 2013.Uber is reportedly going to spend the money for both its ride-hailing business that directly competes with Ola, and the food delivery arm Uber Eats which competes with Swiggy and Zomato. The fact that part of Uber’s fresh investments in India will go to Uber Eats shows that the ride-sharing firm has failed to get a buyer for its food delivery business. In February, Uber was reportedly selling its most recent success in India Uber Eats to Swiggy and Amazon. This investment comes at a time when Zomato has decided to bring down its regular cash burn and … [Read more...] about Shared Mobility | Uber’s single largest investment in India is just a step towards its bigger dream
Many environmentalists, and indeed countries, are dead-set against nuclear power, believing the safety risks trump all. But for others, the question–given the need need to cut carbon, and generate more electricity in the future–is not whether nuclear is necessary, but how to do it safely and at reasonable cost. advertisement advertisement One answer could be to invest big in small plants, known as small “modular” nuclear reactors (SMRs) that are about the size of rail cars, and have an output of less than 300 MW. We’ve written about SMRs before, but now, according to a new report by the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago, SMRs are getting closer to adoption. And it’s easy to see why: They cost a tenth of large plants, are easier to construct, and would give a jolt to the economy if they were developed here in the U.S. “Clearly, a robust U.S. commercial SMR industry is highly advantageous to many sectors,” the … [Read more...] about Are Tiny Nuclear Reactors The Power Plant Of The Future?
“Know thy customer.” It’s a stone-tablet precept of modern marketing and customer-experience management (CX), and for good reason: It roots design and service decisions in what customers want, rather than what companies want them to want. advertisement But it’s one thing to grasp the importance of customer-centricity, and another to actually do the work to get to know the people you serve. Some companies rely on broad demographic profiles, while others segment their customers based on specific factors such as income, education, and product usage. The most detailed organizations combine customer research, demographics, and even psychographics with operational data records such as spending patterns to create narratives that attempt to blend the traits and circumstances of high-value customers into composite sketches. Whether these are user stories or customer personas, the idea is to zero in on the needs and preferences of high-value … [Read more...] about 3 Ways User Stories And Personas Lead To Deeper Engagement
