Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Kevin Harvick will go sentimental for this year’s NASCAR All-Star Race in his final season as a fulltime driver in the Cup series. The Stewart-Haas Racing driver will wheel a No. 29 Ford for the 39 th running of NASCAR’s All-Star event, an exhibition race that for the first time will be held at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina on May 21. Harvick made his NASCAR Cup debut driving a No. 29 Chevy for Richard Childress Racing in 2001. It was a debut, and a car number that wasn’t his choice. In February of that season, the same RCR car was being raced by Dale Earnhardt Sr. and carried the No. 3. Earnhardt tragically lost his life on the final lap of the season opening Daytona 500. The sport was in shock and needed a way to express its grief. As it has always done after tragedy NASCAR raced on, and with the blessing of team owner, and close Earnhardt friend Richard Childress, the No. 3 was rebranded and … [Read more...] about NASCAR’s Kevin Harvick Going Nostalgic, Running No. 29 Car That Started It All

It’s the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s first race as a driver since his impressive return in the 65 th Daytona 500 was ruined when he was involved in the massive last-lap crash in overtime that helped determine the outcome of the race. Rather than look back, however, Johnson is using Sunday’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at the 19-turn, 3.4-mile road course that hosts the United States Grand Prix Formula One contest to help prepare for the 75 th 24 Hours of Le Mans. Johnson along with Mike Rockenfeller and former Formula One World Champion Jenson Button will be part of the Garage 56 effort that will take a NASCAR Cup Series stock car to the world’s most famous endurance race on June 10-11, 2023. Ten Percent Of Fortune 500 Companies Are Now Women-Led: The Changing Face Of Leadership
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Carol J. Geffner is president of CB Vision and a sought-after coach and consultant. She is the author of Building a New Leadership Ladder. In early 2023, women leaders reached a new milestone. They now lead more than 10% of Fortune 500 companies, including one company in the top 10. While these numbers may not sound like a cause for celebration, they are when one considers the history of women achieving top leadership roles in business. For decades, the Fortune 500 list included just one to two women CEOs, and only due to the long tenure of Katherine Graham of the Washington Post . As recently as 2000 , only four women-led Fortune 500 companies. In contrast, there are now 53 women leading Fortune 500 companies. But will this new milestone open doors for more women leaders in the future? Power In Position Versus Power In Numbers People like to say that there is power in numbers, and there is some … [Read more...] about Ten Percent Of Fortune 500 Companies Are Now Women-Led: The Changing Face Of Leadership

500-Year Dome Home: Geoship Reveals First Home, Announces Goal Of 1 Million Units/Year
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The 500-year ceramic geodesic dome home is vaporware no more. Geoship has unveiled the first full livable home in Nevada City, California exclusively to Forbes. The company is also announcing that Geoship has received over 10,000 preorders for its ceramic dome homes, and its new “Earthshot mission:” an ambitious goal to scale to 1 million units per year. While the first dome is a smaller 18-foot diameter home, the goal is to be able to provide homes of all sizes. “Our goal is to build big family domes,” says CEO Morgan Bierschenk “Two, three domes that connect together are anywhere from 1500 to 3000 square feet, and also the smaller ... spaces, a lot of people want 400 square feet or 800 square feet.” All those sizes, Bierschenk says, can be built and manufactured efficiently with domes of multiple sizes that interconnect. Here’s The Carbon-Neutral Bioceramic Geodesic Dome Home With A 500-Year Lifespan
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Updated July 21 to clarify costs About two years ago I wrote about a crowdfunding campaign to create affordable, green, modular, and community-centric housing: Geoship. Now that dream has manifested in an actual physical prototype, and the company has raised over $1.5 million, taken over 500 pre-orders, and is aiming at mass production in two to four years. What’s taking so long? “We’re kind of innovating at three different levels at one time, which is a little unusual,” says CEO Morgan Bierschenk in a recent TechFirst podcast . “We’re developing a material science, and a product design, and the manufacturing technology, kind of all at once.” We’re in a tough spot for housing right now. Prices have soared during the pandemic, and now just as the sticker tags for home start to drop, high inflation is making them less affordable. Plus, the homes that we traditionally make have a huge carbon footprint, … [Read more...] about Here’s The Carbon-Neutral Bioceramic Geodesic Dome Home With A 500-Year Lifespan
These Carbon-Neutral Bioceramic Geodesic Dome Homes Last 500 Years And Don’t Rot, Burn, Or Rust
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin California-based Geoship has raised almost $400,000 from 583 investors in a crowdfunding campaign to create a new kind of housing: affordable, resilient, modular, green, and long-lasting. The inspiration is from Buckminster Fuller, architect and futurist who popularized the geodesic dome. The invention enabling it? Bioceramic, the same material used to coat hip and knee joint replacements and found in NFL quarterback Tom Brady’s TB12 “recovery sleepwear” clothing. “When Buckminster Fuller was building domes in the sixties and seventies ... he called them ‘wooden spaceships,’ ... t he right geometry but the wrong materials, ” CEO Morgan Bierschenk told me recently on the TechFirst podcast . “He kind of guessed that it would be fifty to a hundred years until the right material sciences arrived to really produce geodesic domes.” Watch the full interview here: Bierschenk thinks … [Read more...] about These Carbon-Neutral Bioceramic Geodesic Dome Homes Last 500 Years And Don’t Rot, Burn, Or Rust

Ford’s BlueOval City Creates Training Program, Aims To Build 500,000 Electric Trucks Annually
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In September 2021, Ford announced one of the biggest manufacturing investments in its 120-year history. In addition to lithium ion cell factories in Kentucky, it would build a third cell plant and its first greenfield assembly plant in more than 50 years in western Tennessee. The $5.6 billion campus in Stanton, Tenn. would be called BlueOval City. Almost one year later, Ford broke ground on the six-square mile site east of Memphis and now six months after that, the main building is nearing completion. The new factory isn’t scheduled to begin production until sometime in 2025 though, some three years after groundbreaking. That’s considerably longer than it has taken Tesla with each of its new assembly plants in China, Texas and Germany. Each of those factories have begun production within 2 years after construction began, although each has had very slow production ramp ups. The Tennessee factory will have the largest … [Read more...] about Ford’s BlueOval City Creates Training Program, Aims To Build 500,000 Electric Trucks Annually
Are Multi-Strategy Hedge Funds Really Worth The Higher Fees? It Depends On Whom You Ask
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Long/ short equity has long been the most popular hedge fund strategy among investors, but that could be changing. After 2022's massive outflows for the strategy and the hedge fund industry overall, multi-strategy funds are catching up to long/ short equity. However, one expert is downplaying the increasing interest in multi-strategy hedge funds, suggesting that he could replicate the average multi-strategy fund using the S&P 500 and cash. Outflows from long/ short equity to multi-strategy In a recent white paper, Peltz International declared that multi-strategy hedge funds are close to surpassing long/ short equity as the largest hedge fund strategy. The firm reported that multi-strategy hedge funds have doubled their assets since 2011 and have been growing rapidly relative to industry assets. In 2010, multi-strategy funds accounted for 18.7% of total hedge fund industry assets. As of the third quarter of … [Read more...] about Are Multi-Strategy Hedge Funds Really Worth The Higher Fees?
