How teachers are emerging as the tastemakers of collaborative technology

· February 18, 2021 ·

advertisement advertisement advertisement In today’s fast-changing remote environment, virtual presenting is the new way business and education communication is done. When I say virtual presenting I’m referring to when you share your content in-screen during a video call or recorded video, while maintaining the ability to keep your video presence alongside your content and interact with your visuals versus hiding behind them (similar to how your local weather person operates). advertisement advertisement Research shows virtual presentations lead to more engaging communication . Virtual presenters naturally choreograph their movement to go hand-in-hand with the content, and the in-screen content brings to life their talk-track. Today, there are surprisingly few people even presenting with the screen-share function on video calls. This seems to be because they don’t want to hide behind their content. However, with the ability … [Read more...] about How teachers are emerging as the tastemakers of collaborative technology

The filmmakers are Bradley Munkowitz , Celia Rowlson-Hall , Drew Christie , Larry Cohen , Greg Brunkalla , Kogonada , Matty Brown , Oh Yeah Wow/Caviar , Paul Trillo/AFOG Productions , and Variable . It’s a cool investment in film for Samsung, one with limited branding and input in the creative process. In the promo video, Rowlson-Hall says, “Anything I wanted to pitch, I could.” Cohen also makes a point of noting the level of creative freedom, saying, “Every time I would bring another person on board to work on this project, they would read the script and they’d be like, ‘This is for Samsung? 3 trends in messaging technology shaping how we communicate

· February 22, 2021 ·

advertisement advertisement advertisement 2020 changed everything for a lot of people. The pandemic forced people around the world to change the way they live and work and what it means to spend time together. We went from being able to go to a movie, concert, or enjoy dinner with friends to needing to remain physically distant. Human interaction is so important to our well-being, and suddenly, it was taken away from us. advertisement advertisement To stay connected with the people around us in the face of social distancing, we turned to and relied on technology. Demand for services such as my company’s tool, Facebook Messenger, skyrocketed, and as business and people’s routines changed, so did our focus on the messaging products we focused on delivering. We saw fundamental change in how people wanted to stay directly connected and it forced us to compress years’ worth of product development into a few months in order to … [Read more...] about 3 trends in messaging technology shaping how we communicate

The best Super Bowl ad of 2021 (and 5 really bad ones)

· February 7, 2021 ·

advertisement advertisement advertisement Okay, quick, name the first ad to run during the Super Bowl! advertisement advertisement Of course you can’t remember. It doesn’t help that most brands have been teasing out or just flat out releasing their ads for weeks now, all trying to squeeze another drop of attention out of the entire spectacle. It’s easy to be a cynic, but there is no doubt that despite our eyeballs being inundated with tens of thousands of ads every day, we still all watch this game and actively pay attention—even look forward to—the commercials. It’s that one magical day a year for brands used to the exact opposite every other day on the calendar. This past year was a weird one, not the Super Bowl’s first, but you’d never really know it watching these ads. Not a mask in sight. Social distance . . . huh? Ah well, chalk it up to the fine art of escapism and a very real desire to avoid having made … [Read more...] about The best Super Bowl ad of 2021 (and 5 really bad ones)

Consider this if you’re serious about making changes that stick this year

· February 8, 2021 ·

advertisement advertisement advertisement Drink less, quit smoking, start to eat healthily, be nice to your relatives, exercise more, and give up your toxic relationships. These are just some of the common resolutions most of us make and subsequently break, year after year. Although estimates vary, scientific evidence suggests that new year’s resolutions are typically broken within the first few weeks, and less than 20% of people are able to maintain them for a couple of years, and with a few slips in between. advertisement advertisement Psychologically, there is something quite interesting about our enthusiasm for starting the new year trying to be a better version of ourselves, only to give up and revert to our undesirable habits shortly thereafter, and recycle the same resolutions the following year. One interpretation is that our resolutions simply reflect unrealistic hopes and wishful thinking or optimism delusion. Another is that we’re just … [Read more...] about Consider this if you’re serious about making changes that stick this year
