Key Facts The proposed changes are a dramatic reversal of a series of 2020 mandates made under former Education Secretary Betsy Devos that required a hearing for cases of sexual misconduct, including cross-examination of the accuser. The proposal also expands Title IX prohibitions on sex-based discrimination to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, which LGBTQ advocates have been demanding for months in the leadup to the anniversary of the legislation. June 23, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Federal law enforcement agents on Wednesday searched the home of Trump-era Department of Justice lawyer Jeffrey Clark, whose push to pursue shaky voter fraud allegations following the 2020 election caused uproar at the DOJ—and drew intense scrutiny from the House January 6 committee Thursday. Key Facts Clark confirmed the search in a Thursday night interview with Tucker Carlson, telling the Fox News host about a dozen federal agents visited his home at 7 a.m. Wednesday and spent over three hours searching his house and removing electronics. It’s not clear why federal agencies searched Clark’s suburban Virginia home, but unnamed sources told the New York Times the search was tied to the DOJ’s probe into attempts to reverse former President Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss. William Miller, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s office in D.C., told Forbes “there was law enforcement activity” … [Read more...] about Feds Search Trump DOJ Official Jeffrey Clark’s Home

Wade on Friday, and claimed the decision was “only made possible because I delivered everything as promised”—taking credit for a ruling decided partly by Trump-appointed justices. Trump Could Reshape The Federal Courts Dramatically

November 28, 2016 by dailycaller.com

President-elect Donald Trump can substantively recast the direction of the federal courts from the earliest days of his administration, after two years of divided government have left vacancies open across the federal bench. Though the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court occasioned by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia is the most prominent of these vacancies, there are 104 total vacancies and 38 judicial emergencies in the federal courts as of this writing. A judicial emergency , as defined by the Judicial Conference of the United States, occurs when action items on a court’s docket exceed 6/700 per judge, or where a vacancy has lasted longer than 18 months and there are between 430-600 action items per judge. Some district court judges around the country are currently contending with dockets 1,200 filings long. Of the 104 current vacancies, one is on the Supreme Court, 13 are on the federal appeals courts, 82 are in U.S. district courts, and eight are in courts of special … [Read more...] about Trump Could Reshape The Federal Courts Dramatically

(Representative image: Reuters) A day after endorsing Ukraine's candidacy to join the European Union, the bloc's leaders turned their attention to the severe economic turbulence looming over the coming months as the full impact of Russia's war sinks in and the threat of recession rises. The EU's 27 leaders gathered in Brussels to grapple with surging inflation, energy shocks, dwindling business and consumer confidence, and growing budget pressures. The leaders also will have to contend with higher borrowing costs as the European Central Bank prepares to raise interest rates for the first time in 11 years to counter runaway price increases. ECB President, Christine Lagarde, who plans to raise rates next month and again in September, joined the EU summit to discuss the darkening economic outlook.
