- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (June 28): The High Court on Tuesday found a policeman to be liable for unlawfully detaining an activist for 16 days and ruled that due to his actions, the Inspector-General of Police and the government are both vicariously liable to pay for damages to the activist, R Sri Sanjeevan, chairman of the Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch). Sri Sanjeevan was held by the authorities under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (Poca) in July 2016 for an alleged investigation into extortion claims made against him. Justice Datuk Ahmad Bache said the exemplary and general damages Sanjeevan is due will be assessed later by the court following affidavit evidence to be submitted to his deputy registrar later. Dramatic images on social media showed four smartly dressed suspects carrying out the raid and threatening people with what appeared to be handguns at The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF) in the southwestern city. Police said they had arrested two people and were searching for the others. “Police are investigating a possible armed robbery of the TEFAF in Maastricht. Four suspects are believed to be involved. Houston authorities are searching for a gunman on the run who allegedly “executed” a 9-year-old girl and injured her mother Monday night. The mother was watching television with her three children, ages nine, three and one when her ex-boyfriend, Jeremiah Jones, allegedly showed up at the apartment shortly before 11:00 p.m., according to Fox Houston . “The family got separated. The suspect here, executed a nine-year-old little girl in the apartment with a handgun,” Det. Sgt. Michael Cass said. “He then went after the mother and she was shot.” The mother was reportedly shot near the shoulder and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. BALIK PULAU: An engineer was arrested for allegedly assaulting a traffic policeman who had issued him with a summons for using a handphone while driving. A video showing a man assaulting a traffic policeman went viral on Tuesday (June 28). Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the 51-year-old man was stopped at Jalan Tun Dr Awang near the Penang International Commercial City at about 6.30pm on Monday (June 27).
