Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In 2018/2019, the last time Broadway had a full 52-week season, more than 14.77 million people attended a Broadway show. According to the Broadway League these productions have drawn more people to its theaters than all New York City sports teams combined. And yet, during its centuries of existence, Broadway never had its own dedicated museum in the heart of the theater district. That is until now. This past November the Museum of Broadway opened its doors on West 45th Street. Spread along four fun-packed floors, the 26,000 square foot space contains a plethora of costumes, original scripts, immersive exhibits and other unique artifacts. There’s everything from the original Ziegfeld Follies costumes from the early 1900s to the actual wig made from 100,000 strands of hair created by wigmaker Paul Huntley for Patti LuPone in the original 1979 Broadway production of Evita to correspondence between Rent … [Read more...] about They Turned Their Dream To Create A Show-Stopping Museum Devoted To Broadway Into A Reality

The CIO Playbook For Defying Data Gravity
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Your data glut is only going to grow, but you can make it work for you with an intentional multicloud strategy. Among the major concerns CIOs have shared with me in recent years has been the proliferation of applications and services across their complex IT environments . These captains of enterprise IT run startling amounts of critical business-critical software, not to mention intelligent infrastructure and cybersecurity tools and experimental apps across a mix of on-premises systems and various clouds. Increasingly, this includes multiple public cloud providers, the choice du jour . These uneasy CIOs told me that the more apps they poured onto these public cloud platforms, the greater the recurring costs. And as they stitched more cloud apps together, they found they needed to run many of them across multiple clouds , sometimes based on compliance requirements abroad. Aside from the monthly clouds bills … [Read more...] about The CIO Playbook For Defying Data Gravity
Re-Examining The Role Of Museums In The Digital Age: MIM Director Weighs In
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Since the COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted all the players in the cultural world, it has never been more important for museums to know their “customers” and build their loyalty. It’s no longer enough for museums to serve as monuments of conservation, curation, and stewardship of art collections—they now have to re-examine their mission considering new possibilities and figuring out how digital connections can further their mission. In addition, to remain sustainable into the future, museums must be freshly relevant and engaging to every new generation. Tremendous opportunities are, therefore, to be seized. One thing still holds true, however. The value of museums will always center on direct experience. Being up close and personal with artifacts you can look at and, in some cases, touch is a distinctly different and more powerful experience than viewing content online. In a recent report by The Art Newspaper , while … [Read more...] about Re-Examining The Role Of Museums In The Digital Age: MIM Director Weighs In
Web3 Rebels Vs. Tech. Oligopolies
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin People often ask me, “what is Web3?” My short answer, which I elaborate on in my ‘What The Zuck’ article and keynotes , is always—you are! Why? Because the promise of Web3 flips the ownership model and gives the money and the power back to you. Social media has deteriorated in many countries—especially for women—and the tech. and media oligopolists love it. These media landlords like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Google, Twitter, Apple, et al. have taken control of everything we do, say, share, post and buy online—and they are not very excited about the changes Web3 can usher in to their market. Want proof? While Tik Tok’s CEO, Shou Chew, was grilled by U.S. lawmakers in Washington today—last week at SXSW, his former product head admitted this about creators: “Platforms don’t really care if you are successful…because their metrics are 100 percent focused on retention, publish rates, active days. Monetization of … [Read more...] about Web3 Rebels Vs. Tech. Oligopolies
