An ADHD diagnosis can be expensive and inaccurate. This company’s test addresses both problems

August 7, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

Despite being a strong student in high school, Sydney Dodini struggled during her freshman year at Brigham Young University. She kept showing up late to lectures and found it difficult to focus during class. When she flew home in the spring, she asked her father, Aaron Dodini, a psychologist who specializes in ADHD testing, to give her a QbTest, an FDA-cleared ADHD diagnostic screening tool that can be done online. advertisement advertisement ADHD, or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, is one of the more common neurobehavioral disorders usually first diagnosed in childhood and which can continue into adulthood. Symptoms fall into three categories: inattention, manifesting in difficulty sustaining focus, staying on task, and staying organized; hyperactivity, including excessive fidgeting, extreme restlessness, even talking too much; and impulsivity, including difficulty with self-control, delaying gratification, and considering long-term … [Read more...] about An ADHD diagnosis can be expensive and inaccurate. Why Regulation Will Help The Buy Now, Pay Later Giants

July 12, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After a meteoric rise during the pandemic, the buy now, pay later (BNPL) business is facing a future clouded by deteriorating economic conditions, competition from the likes of Apple and bank credit card issuers and a looming regulatory crackdown. At least, that’s the conventional wisdom. Since the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) opened an inquiry into the industry last year, regulation has generally been framed as a “ backlash ” and threat to the industry’s growth. A research note issued Sunday by Goldman Sachs analyst Michael Ng, which initiates coverage of Affirm Holdings with a neutral rating, observes that “the evolving US BNPL regulatory landscape results in the risk of potential regulation that could reduce the pace of consumer and merchant adoption.” Yet a deeper look suggests regulation could actually benefit the leaders in the American BNPL sector. While BNPL has been around in the US … [Read more...] about Why Regulation Will Help The Buy Now, Pay Later Giants

Bill Maher Claims ‘Fat Celebration’ Is Happening In U.S., Oversimplifies Obesity Epidemic

August 6, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s a shame what Bill Maher has been saying about the obesity epidemic. Back in 2019, Maher literally asked people to “fat shame” others more on his HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher,” as I covered for Forbes . Now, in the latest episode of his show, Maher complained that America has “gone from fat acceptance to fat celebration.” Maher claimed as well that “There’s a disturbing trend going on in America these days with rewriting science to fit ideology or just to fit what you want reality to be,” as you can see in the following tweet from Maher and the accompanying video: Just to be clear, Maher is not a scientist. During this segment, he also didn’t present any real scientific studies or have any, you know, real live scientists present. So, hmmm, was he in fact presenting actual science or was he rather rewriting science to fit his ideology or just to fit what he wants reality to be? Well, let’s take a look at … [Read more...] about Bill Maher Claims ‘Fat Celebration’ Is Happening In U.S., Oversimplifies Obesity Epidemic

POV: Yes, there are enough hours in a day—if you manage your time better

August 7, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

“There are not enough hours in the day!” advertisement advertisement We’ve all, at some point, have exclaimed that in exasperation. But guess what: it doesn’t have to be true. Time is one of the most significant professional considerations leaders have as they look to do more and amplify their impact. Cracking the code on time is especially relevant to professionals at a crossroads, those ready for their next promotion, looking to join the C-suite, or scale up their leadership or business. A Stanford study found that productivity per hour declines when we work too much. People who work 70 or more hours a week get the same amount of work done as those who work 55 hours. We all have the same 24 hours in the day, yet some individuals can accomplish much more. But how? Prioritize planning Prioritization is not just about what needs to be done but whether you are focusing your time and attention to work on the most important goals you need … [Read more...] about POV: Yes, there are enough hours in a day—if you manage your time better

Box office: ‘Bullet Train’ arrives with so-so $30.1 million debut, ‘Easter Sunday’ stumbles

August 7, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A LOS ANGELES (Aug 7): "Bullet Train," a John Wick-ian romp with Brad Pitt in the aisle seat, arrived in theaters with a $30.1 million opening weekend. That's enough to top the domestic box office chart, but it's only a so-so result given "Bullet Train's" $90 million price tag and Pitt's star power. The Sony Pictures release will need to maintain its momentum in the coming weeks as it tries to break even or turn a profit. "Bullet Train" is trying to prove that an action flick that isn't based on a comic book or a toy-line can defy the odds and resonate with audiences. But part of the issue for the film is that critics weren't on board. "Bullet Train" landed a mediocre 41% approval rating on review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, with many reviewers faulting the movie for being overly derivative of the work of Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino. Variety chief film critic Peter Debruge was mixed on "Bullet Train," writing that "neither the characters nor the … [Read more...] about Box office: ‘Bullet Train’ arrives with so-so $30.1 million debut, ‘Easter Sunday’ stumbles

How to decide if a business issue is worth solving

September 21, 2021 by www.fastcompany.com

Managing time is one of a CEO’s greatest challenges, but it’s not just their own time they are responsible for. One of a leader’s main responsibilities is setting a clear strategy for their organization, and good strategy is about making choices among competing priorities. advertisement advertisement With finite resources and numerous problems to fix, organizations can become inefficient without clear direction. It’s the CEO’s job to provide that direction for the use of limited resources. But with issues, opportunities, and initiatives popping up all the time, it’s not always easy to prioritize. Companies face issues in supply chain, marketing, product, quality, and entering new markets, to name a few. So how can a leader know which issues are most worth addressing? As a business unit leader for Fortune 500 companies, I saw many scenarios where the leadership team needed to decide between competing priorities. ‘Going extreme’: The different emotions Gold Aceron struggled with in his love scene for ‘Scorpio Nights 3’

August 8, 2022 by entertainment.inquirer.net

Aceron in “Scorpio Nights 3” For Gold Aceron, having a romantic relationship shouldn’t be a hindrance to his plan of becoming an accomplished artist, especially since the young actor has recently taken the “sexy route” by appearing in the third remake of the erotic thriller series “Scorpio Nights.” Gold said he would encourage his girlfriend to watch Law Fajardo’s “Scorpio Nights 3,” which features Christine Bermas as his leading lady. “I would tell her, ‘You have to be ready to see projects like this because this is what I do for a living.’ The problem is, I don’t have a girlfriend anymore,” he told Inquirer Entertainment during a recent virtual media gathering. “Just the same, this person who I will eventually choose to become my life partner should understand and fully accept the kind of work that I do. I don’t think this should be difficult, especially when we put importance on communication. Lahat nadaraan sa mabuting usapan,” Gold pointed out. How to Eat for All-Day Energy

May 31, 2012 by www.inc.com

As a busy entrepreneur you're probably going non-stop all day, but that doesn't mean your energy levels keep pace with your to-do list. Despite a consistently packed calendar from when the alarm rings in the morning to when we shut out the light at night, many busy professionals veer wildly from a post-coffee 11am energy buzz to a near catatonic post-lunch lull in the afternoon. This can't be good for your productivity, but what's to be done about it? Afternoon napping has been suggested by many and seems to align well with humans' natural circadian rhythms, but if your customers or your kids make that option untenable, are their other possibilities for dealing with your daily energy rollercoaster? On blog Dumb Little Man recently, nurse and nutritional health counselor Penny Klatell suggested busy professionals consider eating themselves to more consistent energy levels . "Food is both the culprit and the treatment for a big part of our lack of energy, muddled thinking, … [Read more...] about How to Eat for All-Day Energy
