SCALISE: The Supreme Court Delivered A Major Victory For The Pro-Life Movement

June 25, 2022 by dailycaller.com

Immediately after the initial draft of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision was leaked to the press in May in a deplorable breach of precedent, a political earthquake erupted that sent shockwaves throughout the entire country. The backlash from Democrats has been fierce — and their “mob on the spot” was quick to action. Over the last month, far-left activists have waged a pressure campaign on Supreme Court Justices by illegally protesting outside their homes. Dozens of pregnancy resource centers and religious organizations have been vandalized, graffitied and attacked around the country . Despite death threats and a failed assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the Supreme Court delivered in a significant and long-overdue victory for the unborn. (RELATED: BYRON: Roe Is Dead. What Happens Next?) In 1973, the Supreme Court twisted the “Due Process” clause of the 14th Amendment to create the nonexistent “right to an abortion.” Since … [Read more...] about SCALISE: The Supreme Court Delivered A Major Victory For The Pro-Life Movement

Abortions Can Resume In Louisiana—At Least For Now—As Trigger Bans Blocked In State Court

June 27, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline A Louisiana court granted a request by abortion providers to temporarily block trigger bans that outlawed the procedure in the state Monday, as pro-choice advocates try to claw back access to abortion after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and a series of states immediately banned it. Key Facts Louisiana state Judge Robin M. Giarusso signed a temporary restraining order blocking Louisiana’s trigger laws, which took effect Friday and outlawed all abortions in the state, while the abortion providers’ challenge is heard. Giarusso scheduled a hearing for July 8 on whether to grant the abortion providers’ request for a preliminary injunction that would keep the laws blocked or put them back in effect. Abortion providers and advocates filed a lawsuit in state court against Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and state Health Secretary Courtney Phillips that argues the state’s abortion … [Read more...] about Abortions Can Resume In Louisiana—At Least For Now—As Trigger Bans Blocked In State Court

Roe Dies. America Divides – And It Ain’t All About Women

June 24, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “ Women are just roadkill in this fight, it’s all about men .” (Quote from the upcoming documentary Fairplay by Jennifer Siebel Newsom.) The end of Roe v Wade is the first big wave of the Conservative Supreme Court’s impact on America. It won’t be the last. The Trumped-up Court is now muscling up its macho-retro stance, and five robed judges have just robbed some 36 million American women of their right to an abortion. While it will drown women’s rights to bodily control, it also reveals the scarily undemocratic dance this divided nation is now locked in. After all, a majority of Americans support abortion. Yet what became a constitutional right a half-century ago has just been reversed - it is unlikely to be won back anytime soon. It’s a move that should worry at least as many men as women. Almost all 38 OECD countries allow abortion. American exceptionalism is going down a dark, backward slide. Women are always … [Read more...] about Roe Dies. A Threat To Workplace Equality, The Reversal Of Roe V. Wade Calls Organizations To Action

June 24, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Will the overturn of Roe v. Wade have implications for gender equality in the workplace? While the Supreme Court decision is bound to penalize women’s health rights , it can also negatively affect the work culture. A slow-moving effort—men are still paid more and are more likely to hold managerial roles, yet women are better educated—closing the gender gap remains an elusive goal. Notwithstanding recent gains, generalization after generalization continue to define women’s abilities, duties and aspirations, each a verdict on what a woman can and should do. It is this web of deeply held beliefs that the 50-year-old-precedent reversal will buttress, giving bias sharper contours and inequality another “go.” Turning The Clock Back On Bias In concluding that the Constitution does not grant women control over their bodies, Justice Samuel Alito’s opinion refuels the narrative of the ineffective female decision-maker. … [Read more...] about A Threat To Workplace Equality, The Reversal Of Roe V. Opinion: The aftershocks of America’s abortion earthquake will be felt for decades

June 27, 2022 by edition.cnn.com

(CNN) Following the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, CNN Opinion asked a group of contributors to weigh in on the cultural, legal and political ramifications of this monumental legal opinion undoing nearly 50 years of federal abortion protection. The views expressed in these commentaries are those of the authors. SE Cupp: What politicians get wrong about the abortion debate I'm deeply worried for our country. Read More No matter where you stand on the issue -- I'm pro-life but do not support a ban on abortions -- this ruling represents a seismic shift in American life as most of us knew it. I'm 43, and Roe is older than I am. There are more people alive today who have never known an America without Roe than there are people who lived without it. Stripping away what many women have only known as a right for nearly 50 years, without putting anything in its place is dangerous. Left-Wingers Refer To Women As ‘Pregnant People’ In Response To Roe Overturn

June 24, 2022 by dailycaller.com

Left-wing politicians and figures used the term “pregnant people” for women carrying children in response to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. The Supreme Court ruled in the case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, that the 1973 Court decision Roe v. Wade was “egregiously wrong from the start.”  The ruling sent the authority to regulate and restrict abortions back to the states. Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar said the decision will prohibit bodily autonomy for “women and pregnant people” across the country. “This Supreme Court decision is devastating for millions of women and pregnant people across the country. I am outraged this right-wing court is turning the clock back on generations of progress and prohibiting individuals to have autonomy over their bodies. Let’s be clear: This decision is a blow to everyone who believes in the 14th amendment and to anyone who believes there are limits to how much the government can control the decisions we make in … [Read more...] about Left-Wingers Refer To Women As ‘Pregnant People’ In Response To Roe Overturn

Biden Slams Overturn Of Roe V. Wade: ‘Realization Of An Extreme Ideology’

June 24, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline President Joe Biden blasted the Supreme Court's landmark decision Friday to overturn the nationwide right to an abortion , which has already led to abortion bans in some states, calling it a “sad day for the court and our country.” Key Facts Biden said the decision was the culmination of a Republican-led “deliberate effort over decades to upset the balance of our law,” calling the decision the “realization of an extreme ideology.” The president stated the three conservative justices former President Donald Trump appointed to the court were at the “core of today's decision to upend the scales of justice.” Biden called on Congress to enact laws to codify a nationwide right to abortion–a move not expected given the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold. Biden demanded protests in the wake of Friday's ruling remain peaceful, while urging those opposed to the decision to show up to vote in the … [Read more...] about Biden Slams Overturn Of Roe V. Tax Information Reporting On Digital Assets Steps Into The Spotlight

June 27, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The looming prospect of compliance with the reporting requirements in section 6050I has been a problem for the digital asset industry since the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (P.L. 117-58) last November. The requirements pose procedural obstacles and privacy concerns for taxpayers, but the government has an interest in ensuring compliance with the tax laws. The revised version of section 6050I requires taxpayers engaged in a trade or business to file an information return when they receive $10,000 or more in digital assets in one transaction or two or more related transactions in the course of that trade or business. The information required is the name, address, and tax identification number of the person from whom the assets were received; the amount of the assets; and the date and nature of the transaction. The provision was originally designed for cash transactions. The brief push for … [Read more...] about Tax Information Reporting On Digital Assets Steps Into The Spotlight

Chinese Media Suggests US Is About To Boil Over With Conflict After SCOTUS Decision

June 27, 2022 by dailycaller.com

Chinese state-run media appeared to suggest Monday that the U.S. had reached a political boiling point in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Following the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision on Friday, which effectively grants states the authority to regulate abortion, Chinese state-run media outlet Global Times cited experts to cast the verdict as a fundamental betrayal of Americans’ human rights. The Chinese state media outlet article went on to speculate that America’s supposed deep political divide also threatens to potentially result in a civil war. “[The Supreme Court’s decision] is a great denial of American people’s basic human rights,” Diao Daming, associate professor at the Renmin University, told Global Times. “It is clearly a historical regression.” (RELATED: Big Business Fights Bill Intended To Stop Selling America Out To China) The Chinese state-run media report follows less than two weeks after the European Parliament passed a … [Read more...] about Chinese Media Suggests US Is About To Boil Over With Conflict After SCOTUS Decision

Founder Of Anti-Woke Investment Firm Sounds Off On Facebook Over Abortion Hypocrisy

June 27, 2022 by dailycaller.com

The founder of an investment firm seeking to counter “woke capitalism” weighed in on Facebook employees complaining about the company’s policy allegedly prohibiting discussion on abortion during a Fox News appearance Sunday. “If people are consistent about keeping politics out of the workplace, I’m a fan of that,” Vivek Ramaswamy, founder of Strive Asset Management, said on “Fox and Friends Sunday.” “That would fit the bill very well if COO Sheryl Sandberg had not made a one-sided statement on Facebook’s own platform about this heated political issue.” An engineer at Facebook posted Saturday on LinkedIn that the company had prohibited discussions regarding the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which found there was no constitutional right to abortion, despite the fact that Sandberg had made a public Facebook post condemning the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade Friday. “The Supreme Court’s ruling jeopardizes the health and the … [Read more...] about Founder Of Anti-Woke Investment Firm Sounds Off On Facebook Over Abortion Hypocrisy
