No one wants to abandon a model based on proven efficacy with a potentially longer FDA approval process and difficult adoption process by the insurance industry, the economic gatekeepers of any innovation in American health care. Countless times it was mentioned how impossible it is to build a business model around medical services or products without knowing the state of coverage and reimbursement by the health insurance industry.
