Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When you purchase Bitcoin from a centralized exchange, you never know whether your account is credited with actual Bitcoin or paper Bitcoin. Paper Bitcoin is a "I owe you" Bitcoin, implying that the exchange owes you a certain amount of Bitcoin. The only way to ensure that the Bitcoin you purchased is genuine is to withdraw it to a self-storage wallet or sell it for another asset or product. To save on transaction fees, most exchanges will not create a separate wallet for your account and transfer your Bitcoin to that address. The Bitcoin balance displayed on your centralized exchange account is a number next to your name on a spreadsheet. This explains why, despite Bitcoin's 10-minute block time, exchanges can instantly transfer Bitcoin to your account. That is, the time it takes to transfer Bitcoin from one address to another. Exchanges keep their Bitcoin in a wallet or set of wallets where they possess the private keys … [Read more...] about Why Keeping Bitcoin On An Exchange Is Driving The Price Down

How To Buy Bitcoin At 26% Off The Regular Price
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Here’s a scorecard on eight ways to own crypto. The most intriguing: a low-cost coin trust available at a nice discount. Are you interested in virtual currency, now trading at half the price it had last fall? Shop around. Among the many ways to get a piece of the action, there are wide differences in ownership costs. My favorite: a somewhat obscure bitcoin trust to be found in Fairfield, Connecticut. There are pros and cons to every means of getting cryptocurrency exposure, including the little outfit in Fairfield. This survey covers eight bitcoin bets in descending order of my views on their desirability. You may have a different ranking, especially if you are speculating on a quick turnaround. #1. Osprey Bitcoin Trust This quasi-fund (ticker: OBTC), created a little over a year ago, is a knockoff of the much better-known Grayscale Bitcoin Trust. Both trusts are closed-end, in that investors have no right … [Read more...] about How To Buy Bitcoin At 26% Off The Regular Price
Bitcoin Trailblazer Raises Capital To Create Interplanetary Cryptocurrency
LedgerX co-founder Paul Chou is building on the sale of the company he created by raising capital for a new kind of cryptocurrency that can be spent on Earth, the Moon, Mars and beyond. I t’s just before midnight on a rainy autumn Friday. Paul Chou and his entourage dodge puddles on the runway of the Teterboro Airport in New Jersey as they board a Gulfstream private jet bound for Las Vegas. The flight attendant cracks open a bottle of champagne and with a nod welcomes the passengers aboard. The girls disappear into the back and emerge minutes later wearing sequined cocktail dresses and feather boas. Sensing she’s in for a party, the attendant offers a round of tequila shots just as the inertia from the plane taking off to the Bellagio Hotel & Casino forces her laughing into her seat. Ostensibly, Chou, 38, is celebrating not only his birthday but the sale for an undisclosed amount of LedgerX, the ground-breaking bitcoin derivatives firm he co-founded with his wife in … [Read more...] about Bitcoin Trailblazer Raises Capital To Create Interplanetary Cryptocurrency
The Internet Of The Future: Here Are Best Examples Of Web3 In Practice
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Web3 is the term used to describe the “next level” of the internet - following on from web 1 (HTML, or the “world wide web”) and web 2 (social media, and the user-generated web). Although exactly what defines a web3 site, service or application is still the subject of some debate, it’s generally agreed that it will be decentralized, with infrastructure that is owned by the users and creators. It will also be deeply linked to the real world due to being built on Internet of Things (IoT) technology and to the concept of immersive, connected environments (aka the “ metaverse ”). It’s fair to say that, as I am writing this post, web3 is very much a work-in-progress, and different people have some very different ideas about what it will end up looking like. However, the fundamental principles are very much operational today and are being used to create a new generation of digital platforms and services that are already … [Read more...] about The Internet Of The Future: Here Are Best Examples Of Web3 In Practice
Why Investors Chase GameStop, Bitcoin And Other ‘Get Rich Quick’ Opportunities
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Bill Keen is the Founder and CEO of Keen Wealth Advisors and the Best-Selling Author of Keen on Retirement. If you’ve been watching the news recently, you’ve heard about the situation with GameStop’s stock price . One of the so-called “meme stocks” (where the popularity is driven by enthusiasm online in places like Reddit), GameStop’s stock had a meteoric rise, a precipitous drop, and has since risen and fallen again. Netflix is even making a movie about the whole ordeal. If you haven’t heard of the GameStop fiasco, you’ve probably heard of bitcoin, a cryptocurrency that has skyrocketed in value in recent years. As of Sept. 10, one bitcoin is valued around $45,000. Some businesses are now accepting it as a form of payment. While seemingly unrelated, GameStop and bitcoin share one similarity in my mind: the appeal of a “get rich quick” opportunity. In the past year, I’ve fielded more than a few calls from … [Read more...] about Why Investors Chase GameStop, Bitcoin And Other ‘Get Rich Quick’ Opportunities

Grayscale Bitcoin And Ethereum Trust Discounts Hit All-Time Lows
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Discounts on the two largest cryptocurrency funds hit all-time lows as the digital assets market suffered one of its most volatile weeks. Namely, shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin BTC Trust (GBTC), the world's biggest bitcoin fund with $18.3 billion in assets under management, have been trading at a 30.79% discount against the fund’s net asset value. As a private-placement trust that trades like a stock, GBTC allows investors to get exposure to bitcoin without actually having to buy the asset. The fund’s manager, New York-based Grayscale Investments, takes care of the custody in exchange for an annual management fee of 2%. The company’s other product, the $6 billion Grayscale Ether ETH eum Trust (ETHE), has also seen its discount widen to 34.22% this week. The offering carries a slightly higher fee tag of 2.5%. While the heavy discounts could be seen as a bearish indicator of investor sentiment, they also offer … [Read more...] about Grayscale Bitcoin And Ethereum Trust Discounts Hit All-Time Lows
Bitcoin, Ethereum Price Crash May 2022. What Next?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I’ve been drawing this and similar charts for months now: I actually think this will come to rest around $15,000 and $20,000 but the bottom could be around and even below $10,000. Bear in mind the low, however horrible it will look on the chart, will only last for perhaps minutes while the equilibrium low will be significantly higher. As I write, bitcoin BTC is at $29,300 having earlier hit $25,300 for a few minutes. Although that certainly looks like a capitulation there is almost certainly a lot more to come, because the driver for this mover is the draining of U.S. liquidity by the Fed and therefore a super rampant dollar crushing all currencies before it, including the euro and U.K. pound. Then there are the forced sellers in the Russia/Ukraine conflict to help push the crypto charabanc off the cliff. So unless something turns the corner the above chart still holds as a good road map. This has been … [Read more...] about Bitcoin, Ethereum Price Crash May 2022. What Next?
Franklin Templeton is here to stay in India, we are hiring and getting ready to launch new funds: Sanjay Sapre
Sanjay Sapre is the current President of Franklin Templeton India. His term ends in July 2022. Late evening on April 23, 2020, Sanjay Sapre , president of Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Ltd, made probably, one of the most awkward public announcements in his life—that of winding up six of the fund house’s marquee debt funds. These were all open-ended debt funds and weren’t meant to be shut down. Franklin Templeton believed that by winding up the schemes, it would buy the fund house time to sell its illiquid securities once market conditions improved. At the time, the COVID-19 global pandemic was declared, equity markets had fallen sharply and the debt market had frozen. Debt fund investors rushed to take their money out and fund houses everywhere saw redemptions. Franklin Templeton India was the worst affected because it had been running a high-yield strategy across six of its debt schemes, totaling assets worth Rs 25,215 crore as of April 23, 2020. Its … [Read more...] about Franklin Templeton is here to stay in India, we are hiring and getting ready to launch new funds: Sanjay Sapre
