RM21mil lost in giant Macau scam
GEORGE TOWN: A businessman from Port Dickson lost a record RM21mil in a Macau scam after he allegedly revealed his bank Transaction Authorisation Code (TAC) numbers to a “bank official”. However, the 63-year-old victim was not from Penang as reported recently, said Selangor Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Asst Comm Azman Ali. “The victim is a millionaire and has several businesses in Bukit Kemuning, Shah Alam, and Kuala Lumpur. “From the report that we received from the victim, he is from Port Dickson and not Penang as alleged,” he said briefly when contacted. The case is believed to be the biggest Macau scam ever recorded by the police for a single victim in recent years. ACP Azman said the victim lodged a police report in Shah Alam on May 6 after realising that his money had been transferred to other unknown accounts. Infosys reappoints turnaround artist Salil Parekh as boss, showers stock options on top execs
Salil Parekh has been chief executive and managing director of Infosys since January 2018 India’s second largest software firm Infosys said on Sunday that its board has reappointed Salil Parekh as managing director and chief executive officer for five more years starting July, reposing trust in a leader who has turned around the company ever since he took over in January 2018. In a filing to exchanges on May 22, the company said, “The board in a meeting on May 21 approved the reappointment of Parekh subject to the approval of shareholders.” ESOPs to retain top talent The company has also rolled out performance-linked stock units to nearly 100 top executives amid rising attrition. The victim, 46 year old British national Gary Reed, recounts how a fellow gym goer struck him hard in the face with a dumbbell when he wouldn’t move from the bench he was using. Gary says “the bone on the bottom part of my face is shattered”, and he has gotten 16 external stitches. He said he went to an optometrist, who saw he had bleeding in his eye. Gary said that he is “seeing double.” “ He tried to kill me.
