The lingerie industry is no stranger to mission-driven brands. Over the past few years, at least a dozen U.S.-based intimates brands, including Savage x Fenty and Aerie , have gained popularity thanks to their dedication to body positivity. Now, a different type of mission is taking hold of the industry: breast cancer awareness. Dana Donofree was one of the first to embrace this mission. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a day before her 28th birthday, and not long after, she learned that she needed a bilateral mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Breast cancer is more than the pink ribbon and smiling women in breast cancer awareness ads, she thought.
