February 1, 2023 by www.thejakartapost.com

Roland Lloyd Parry (Agence France-Presse) (The Jakarta Post) PREMIUM Paris   ● Wed, February 1 2023 False information about climate change flourished online over the past year, researchers say, with denialist social media posts and conspiracy theories surging after the United States’ environmental reforms and Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover. “What really surprised us this year was to see a resurgence in language that is reminiscent of the 1980s, phrases like ‘climate hoax’ and ‘climate scam’ that deny the phenomenon of climate change,” said Jennie King, head of civic action at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a London-based digital research group. Popular topics included the false claims that CO2 did not cause climate change or that global warming was not caused by human activity, Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD), a coalition of campaigners, said in a report. to Read Full Story SUBSCRIBE NOW Starting from IDR 55,500/month Unlimited … [Read more...] about Climate untruth surges in denial, conspiracy comeback

Makar Sankranti 2023: Ahmedabad’s Kite Museum takes you back in time

January 14, 2023 by www.moneycontrol.com

The world's first kite on record was rectangular, and was flown in the second century B.C. in China. (Representational image: Agnieszka Ziomek via Unsplash) Growing up in Hyderabad, one of the indelible memories of January has always been of seeing endless kites in the sky and how the fliers would compete to cut each other’s manja - the strong thread that allows the kite to scale such heights and still remain obedient to the skillful flier's wristy movements. With time, I saw fewer and fewer kites and it was not until a recent trip to Ahmedabad that these memories came rushing back as I visited the unique kite museum. (Photo by Bindu Gopal Rao) History Beckons The museum is located on the ground floor of Sankar Kendra, a cultural centre on Bhattacharya Road, in a building dating back to 1954 and designed by Le Corbusier . The layout is simple, and as you enter here, it is the sheer volume of infographics that is bound to blow your mind. Nets, Plastic, Underwater Crime – How To Stop Ocean Pollution

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin We’ve all seen them. Images of countless turtles, whales, dolphins, sharks, and seals, dead and entangled in abandoned fish nets. The ocean is becoming an increasingly dangerous place for its inhabitants. And not because of the ‘eat or be eaten’ laws of nature - but because just by nature of being a creature that swims, you’re likely to eat plastic that may kill or maim you, or end up trapped and entangled in a net, left to struggle in an unnatural death until you starve, suffocate, or become prey. It’s one thing to talk about statistics and science, but the violence, pain and suffering our throwaway plastic culture has caused is something that can't be measured in numbers. The ocean has become a crime scene. Currently, there are an estimated 50-75 trillion pieces of plastic and microplastics in the ocean. The plastic either ends up forming giant garbage patches, or breaking down into microplastics. Plastic waste … [Read more...] about Nets, Plastic, Underwater Crime – How To Stop Ocean Pollution

How To Work With Sustainability Influencers

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Influencer marketing was a global $16.4 billion industry in 2022 and it’s estimated to reach over $84.89 billion by 2028. Gordon Glenister is a membership and influencer marketing expert and an influencer columnist for the London Evening Standard . Here are his top five tips for how climate tech businesses can successfully work with influencers, when it makes sense for a business to use influencers for a guerrilla marketing strategy - and when it would be better not to engage an influencer. Look for shared values and engagement What’s important to your business? Does that reflect well in the type of content that you're seeing from that individual? The last thing you want to do is work with an influencer who's working with all of your competitors day in day out. That's not really going to make you feel special within your own within your own brands. Another thing to look for is their level of engagement. In … [Read more...] about How To Work With Sustainability Influencers

The 7 Deadly Sins Of Corporate Black History Month Programming

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin For many organizations January is a time of renewal—setting goals, welcoming new team members, establishing a fresh start, etc. But unfortunately, January can also trigger anxiety and discomfort for many organizations as they scramble to prepare for what may feel like an obligatory pivot into unfamiliar territory—Black history. As a result, many organizations miss an important opportunity to acknowledge and honor Black history and culture and instead awkwardly stumble through a series of disjointed events that feel like afterthoughts and tragically reinforce the absence of any holistic, sustained commitment to antiracism. If your organization is like many—scrambling to assemble Black History month (BHM) programming in the days, hours, minutes before the month begins—please consider these all too common yet tragic missteps. Sin #1 Waiting until the last minute Companies regularly plan conferences months, even a year, in … [Read more...] about The 7 Deadly Sins Of Corporate Black History Month Programming
