Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s an age old question — ok, maybe not that old – but should mall owners be in the business of buying retailers? Four years ago, I wrote about the biggest U.S. mall owners stepping in to save failing retailer Aéropostale from bankruptcy. The deal, a reported $243 million, between Simon Property Group SPG , General Growth Properties, which is now owned by Brookfield, and Authentic Brands Group (ABG) slated to keep all 229 Aéropostale stores open at the two landlord’s properties. With the two largest mall operators’ influence they were able to convince other Aéropostale landlords to provide rent concessions for an additional 171 stores – bringing a total of 400 stores to remain open. Many major retailers, J. Crew, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus, Lucky Brand to name a few, are the lifeblood of America’s shopping malls and have been pushed to the edge during the pandemic, leaving them no choice but to file for … [Read more...] about Simon Property Group Provides Spark To Brooks Brothers – But Is It A Trend?

Unwind At These Two Peaceful, Scenic Properties On St. Martin
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin For me, gardens exert a magnetic attraction. So, as luck would have it, on my recent trip to the French side of St. Martin, I experienced two gems that satisfied my need to be ensconced in properties dominated by nature. I left any worries I may have had far behind as I entered each of these gated accommodations that offered a sense of vibrancy, authenticity, warmth and security — perfect for someone who often travels the world alone. Palm Court Residence On the windward side of St. Martin, the Palm Court Residence in Orient Bay is a colorful, 21-room boutique property with lush gardens, and bold colors embellishing the facade, the interior spaces and the furnishings. Each of the vibrantly-hued, sunny guest rooms comes with a terrace (patio) or balcony. But it’s the striking colors that I found especially attractive: red-orange and lemon-yellow hued accents predominate, along with crimson and lime-green shades … [Read more...] about Unwind At These Two Peaceful, Scenic Properties On St. Martin

Chinese builder Sunac may miss local bond payment in a first
- A + A HONG KONG (June 27): China's fourth-biggest developer may miss a local bond payment for its first time ever, pressuring an onshore credit market that has remained resilient amid a property debt crisis and record offshore defaults. Sunac Real Estate Group Co said in an exchange filing on Friday it likely would not be able to raise enough funds to make a 400 million yuan (US$60 million) payment due June 30 for a portion of the note principal along with related interest. The deadline is part of an instalment plan Sunac got approval for several months ago that extended full repayment of the four billion yuan security by 18 months. A separate note maturing next year fell 15% on Monday while some due in 2025 closed at record lows, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
